Good luck to him. He was stuck behind Bazzana here and was not going to play. I did think he would do more in the limited appearances he had, or do enough to merit more time, and his production with the Knights really dropped off in the second half of the season to the point he wasn't playing much. Totally agreed on good luck to him....reality is he was stuck behind Bazzana, Trosky, Macias, Peterson, and maybe even little Forrester...can't blame him for trying something new. I look forward to him being the Beer Batter in 2025 much like Fuchs was this year

Boisvert will pitch for Utah Valley next year. Good coach with an up and coming young program. He'll help that team - I wish him success next year.

Guessing going to get PAID so won't be a Beav...but WOW. Well, I don't know his situation or scholarship status, but giving up a Stanford education and degree for a short term monetary gain isn't very wise in my opinion. Of course, I didn't go to Stanford, so...

It is not uncommon for a Stanford athlete to graduate in 3 years. Some attend 3 summer sessions prior to their 3rd full year of school. Montgomery may have his degree in hand.
It is Stanford policy that once admitted you can return to undergrad classes at any point in life.
Once you have earned a degree, Stanford encourages students to "spread their wings" and attend grad school, Med school, Law School elsewhere. Fairly rare to find a Stanford grad enrolled in the B-School, Medical or Law school.

He did not attend Senior Day. Montgomery is from Madison, which is a suburb of Jackson, Mississippi, less than 120 miles from Starkville. His father, mother, and stepfather were all Iowa graduates. His uncle was an Arizona State graduate. I have guesses as to what this is about, but they are just guesses.

Whatever reasoning is in play here, I don't think it is conflict based - unlike his predecessor, DE is a player-friendly coach and Stanford's baseball culture is considered solid.
Maybe the call of the Baton Rouge NIL collective is calling?
The riches of Red Stick just removed John Savage's best 2021 recruit, LHP Gage Jump from the UCLA program. I loved listening to Coach Johnson on ESPN selling the player development record at LSU. Paul Skenes, Tommy White, Thatcher Hurd and now Gage Jump. No doubt, Wes Johnson, the one year pitching Guru who is now Georgia's new head coach, helped Skenes and Hurd, but all of these guys were really advanced when they arrived at LSU from the Portal.

Love is an interesting verb to use. I was listening to Coach Johnson the other day, and it was infuriating. I would love for Oregon State to take down LSU next year. The Beavs were within a hair's breadth this year. I was going to mention that Madison, Mississippi is only 175 miles from Baton Rouge, but I thought that I would exclude that information. However, you are probably right. There seems to be a lot of NIL money pouring out of Baton Rouge. And that is thanks in part to Oregon State University funneling money to Louisiana State megadonors to build ships. This is why we can't have nice things.

The one time I was able to watch pre game infield Kennel was playing 3b and that kid has a GUN! Like you stop what you are doing and say who was that every time he threw the ball across the infield.
I was left guessing it was a lack of production at the plate keeping him out of the lineup.
Go BEAVS!

Fairly rare to find a Stanford grad enrolled in the B-School, Medical or Law school. CHS grad Tommy Knecht did this as a FB player ages ago. Was at Stanford for three years, signed as a QB then jerked around (as was John Lynch, another QB signee from his class), so he went to Idaho his final season and played linebacker. Then he transferred back to Stanford to graduate. Last I knew he was a history prof at the U of Denver. Too bad about Tyree. Great kid but he might not ever be healthy.

Is there a rumor mill for who might come to OSU via the portal? Or is that unknown until it happens? Answer: Arizona RH starting pitcher. 75IP, 77SO, 33BB ERA and WHIP are not good (6.33 and 1.73), but we know how rough that stadium was on pitchers. He was the starter vs u0 in PAC tourney.

May is a pitcher / outfielder and high school teammate of Jacob Kmatz at Albuquerque's Sandia HS. All State selection with Kmatz at SHS.

Just saw this from a site on May...
May is a fantastic athlete on the mound with a really quick arm and the stuff to support it. The fastball has been up into the high 90s and he throws a big, sweeping slider as his go-to secondary. There's a changeup in there too, though his feel for the pitch comes and goes. May is two years removed from Tommy John Surgery and just starting to get back all the velo he had in high school. He's got the makings of a high-leverage reliever with an upper-90s fastball and a firm, future upper-80s slider.
