I was being facetious, but why wouldn't he (or anybody else), when making reference to somebody else, use that person's real name? On her birthday, do her friends and family sing, "happy birthday dear @stalwart_payton"? At the inauguration in January, 2021, did the commentator say, "Having taken the oath of office, President @biden_jojo will now give his inaugural address"? It’s a link to her twitter page. It’s a 21st century thing. Not all 21st century things make sense, and several butcher the King's English. This qualifies on both counts. I understand 'handles' that are used for purposes of anonymity, such as those used on this board. Referring to yourself as @joeblow, however, pretty much gives away that you are, indeed, Joe Blow. So what's the point?

I would like to see us offer Payton early on. Her stock should continue to rise and it sounds like she’s pretty set on the Beavs right now. If Oregon State or Oregon offered, she'd likely commit. Wants to stay fairly close.

So what's the point? You might want to proofread your first sentence before you take exception to someone else simply dropping a clickable twitter link into their message. Seems pretty innocuous to me, but what do I know?

I see no errors in that sentence; don't get what you're trying to say.

TORTURED METAPHORS! Those freakin' things kill me. They rip my literary soul like a rusty knife beheading French bread. Make my head hurt worse than a hundred jackhammers pounding the Sistine Chapel.
Ban all tortured metaphors I say. They are the Guantanamo of grammar. The communism of comparisons. ---------------------------

Just amused by anyone who use one while trying to enforce their idea of “the King’s English”.

"Butcher the King's English" (the Queen's back then) was a not uncommon phrase where I went to school a few thousand miles from here. Not something I came up with to express my distaste for some "21st century things", which is the term you had used in the post to which I was responding; I've used it all my life, and have always thought it was in common usage everywhere. But, I guess you were trying to be a jackass, and succeeding at it.

The word "anyone" is an indefinite pronoun and is always singular, so if I'm not mistaken the correct verb in your sentence should be "uses". Just an observation.

Benny's House deserves our best.
