Not buying that the Pac 12 w/OSU, WSU, Fresno, Boise, CSU, USU, SDSU, and virtually anyone else we can pick up is worth no more than a conference with AFA, UNLV, UNM, UWyo, UNR, SJSU, UHI, and whoever else they can get. I don't believe this s%#t for a second. "As a media consultant..." careful dude, or nobody is gonna hire you if you are saying s%#t like this. Someone on reddit was post how weird it is there is a sudden almost orchestrated anti-Pac-12 journalist assault going on. A full "just calm down and relegate to the MWC" mantra. It's on purpose. Both from the "leave us alone" interest from other schools, but also from the big money interest of the other power conferences. All everybody wanted was OSU and WSU to just shut the f%#* up and join the MWC. we just didn't play along. Now we took the best of the MWC and are trying to steal the best of the AAC and the best of other ones too. This is a real threat to the power conferences. Will be be a 5th power conference? No, of course not because they hold the cards there. But we can be good enough and interesting enough that we pull media interest, and media money. that we divert attention away from their conferences. that the pie they want to get smaller and smaller stays bigger. The media was big on sympathy as they were patting us on the head and ushering us downstairs to play with the MWC. but now that we are building something bigger they are mad we are not playing our role. This putz is part of that paradigm. $4M per team, from the top 4 teams of the MWC that was earning MORE than that? an OSU team alone worth $20M and an WSU team worth about $14M? This dudes math ain't mathin'. We aren't even talking about how we concentrated all the basketball talent from the MWC into one place either. He has one side of the equation right... MWC is f%#*ed. Pac-12 only getting $4M a team is outright laughable though. Your post reminds me of a podcast video of several months ago. I think it was that blond guy who does the "Locked on Big 12." He said the Big 12 would have to take OSU/WSU even though they don't want them. His explanation: The rest of the Power conferences don't want a "Rump Conference" consisting of OSU/WSU and the best of the MWC, situated between the G4 and Power 4, out on the West Coast. Turns out he was partially right. They don't want it and what we're experiencing right now is blowback. |

The blond kid on Locked on Big 12 also said, a day or two after the Pac added the 4 MWC schools, it was another ploy to get an invite to the Bid 12. I turned it off. That kid has released a bunch of dumb theories. |
