Her sister specified that the racist comments on social media was what she was referring to. She's not saying race has anything to do with how it was handled.......I apologize if I'm misunderstanding what your meaning is.

She's not saying race has anything to do with how it was handled.......I apologize if I'm misunderstanding what your meaning is. Well, looking back at this you’re right. The local article I read is now unavailable. I searched and grabbed this because i thought it would say the same thing as what I read earlier. I’m not on FB, IG or X so it’s hard to find some things. From this article I would say yes, I would be the one apologizing. I know what I read, but either it disappeared or was written improperly, because it was different than this. I would actually agree with the sister as presented here. Strange. *Edit: Similar to this. Possibly poorly written, either way a mess. www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/us-news/jordan-chiles-sister-accuses-olympics-of-racism-after-american-gymnast-stripped-of-bronze-medal-101723382312867.htmlFollowing the controversial ruling, Chiles' sister called out the Olympic judges for “racism.”

It’s my go to when I want the facts. Seems the sister “clarified” her earlier remarks. What a mess though.

And WTF was that Australian chick doing? That is what my 6 year did when he used to say “Daddy….watch me”. Horrific. It's unfortunate that people (and the news media) are using this one woman's performance to dismiss the entire competition. I'm not going to try to defend breaking as a sport--I still don't understand skateboarding or snowboarding or any of those other sports--but it was far more athletic and amazing than many other sports that are in the Olympics. So judging it all by that one silly performance is not fair to the very talented and athletic competitors.
What it does show, however, is that there needs to be more strict guidelines in place for a new sport at the Olympics. Certainly, LA better be learning.
FWIW: New sports for 2028 1. flag football (lame)
2. squash
3. cricket (I seem to recall my Aussie friend explaining that some cricket matches can go for days. I wonder how that will work.)
No Frisbee golf?! Dammit!
I want to support the gold medal winner in mini-golf. Men's, women's, mixed.

Yeah technically she is screwed (by 4 seconds). But a case can be made that the judges screwed up, not the athlete. It is super unfair for both the US and Romanian gymnast. I guess it is sort of like the refs in an NFL game admitting they blew a call the day after the game ended and ended wrong based on their blown call I think it such a sad sign our our time that morons on anti-social media are saying bad things to/about Chiles. She did nothing wrong. Judging at the Olympics. Yuck.
Best thing the IOC can do now is award both a bronze and call it a draw. Safe face all the way around. Seems a lot easier than fussing with "taking back" medals and crushing spirits. I believe that it is beyond the IOC. But this was already proposed and rejected. Having watched the floor final, I cannot believe that Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, other Romanian, did not win bronze. They marked her for stepping out, when she did not. If they just admit that Maneca-Voinea did not step out, when she clearly did not, Maneca-Voinea wins the bronze, and Barbosu & Chiles can argue about who finished fourth.

You a big Times of India fan? Hindustan Times and The Times of India are the two biggest English-language newspapers in India. That said, I believe that the Hindustan Times is the more pro-Russian and anti-American of the two. The Hindustan Times often prints things that make the United States of America and Americans look bad or silly.

who was around for the 1972 men's gold medal game USA vs USSR? NOW THAT is controversy I was. It was. IIRC, they replayed the last 2-3 seconds three times, to get it "right." A real sh---show. OOF.

One thing I remember about that game was that USSR led nearly the entire game with US making a furious late run to pull ahead right at the end. Then the infamous ending. I also remember the commentators were Frank Gifford and Bill Russell.

There’s a show called 3 seconds to glory (or similar) about it that’s worth watching. Terrible fix. To add insult to injury, in the aftermath of pushing and chaos someone pickpocketed Coach Iva’s wallet right there on the floor!
