I look forward to this JS betrayal thread continuing for the next 12 months. It’s so interesting. What makes it interesting at this point, IMHO, is the intrigue of the Mel Tucker lawsuit yesterday. Let me opine for just a moment: Mel Tucker, in court documents, makes the case that based on unverified allegations from Brenda Tracy (shocker) he is suspended. Then, during the suspension, an over eager agent for one JS, contacts MSU about the job. They then, during his suspension, agree verbally to hire JS before he is officially fired.
Under this scenario, however unlikely, there is no penalty I am aware of for JS or his agent having contacted MSU. But, wouldn't it be amusing if Mel Tucker could prove that MSU was hasty in firing him without a proper investigation, and they had moved too quickly to hire one JS, before the investigation could be done.
I would consider it a two-fer - MSU gets a potentially inferior coach and some of his assistants and athletes, JS's image is further tarnished in the college football world, and it costs MSU 10's of millions of dollars, to pay off Tucker. Probably will never happen, and I am not saying it is true, but it is interesting to ponder.
Bottom line, when did actual contact with JS and his agent occur? If he was willing to mishandle his leaving OSU so badly, what makes anyone think he would follow decorum and say to MSU, "Mel Tucker has not been officially terminated, I will not have a conversation about this until that is done" Good luck with that.

Follow up question for the legal eagles on this board - where does Mel Tucker's lawsuit lands (which court), and could a jury/ judge not only award wrongful termination and compensation, but reinstatement of his job? Given what little I know legally, I cannot see any court mandating he be given his job back, if successful. Only compensation.

iirc, there was at least one parent of a player essentially saying the same thing on social media. And I am sure, 1990 will just say they were malcontents, and it doesn't prove anything - sound familiar?
As I said earlier, discovery in the Mel Tucker lawsuit, however unlikely, could prove very interesting, because of the gap between his suspension and actual firing. Not saying MSU wasn't justified in the firing. The timing is interesting, and what may have gone on between the 10th and the 27th of Sept. You left out the vast number om immature swear words and personal attacks while spouting nothing but hot air! Mom's basement must get unbearably muggy

Given what little I know legally, I cannot see any court mandating he be given his job back, if successful. Only compensation. 11th Amendment applies. Tucker sued in Federal court in Michigan, but suits against states and state schools can only be brought in state court. Having said that, Tucker claims a Constitutional infringement, which probably won't hold up. It will probably ultimately be dismissed. It is very difficult to sue a state university. Ask Mike Leach's ghost.

Mel Tucker can be my secret Santa if he wants.

I look forward to this JS betrayal thread continuing for the next 12 months. It’s so interesting. Just a couple more weeks. Then sporadically over the next ten to fifteen years.

In just a couple weeks we're going to shift gears to a 'glad he's gone, Bray's the man' thread as MSU gets their ass-kicked weekly while the Beavs shock the world, rise from the ashes, and try on that glass slipper.
