Is the burden upon us to figure out the proper way for him to have left so that you can shoot it down? There are a multitude of ways that he could have handled the situation which would have left him in good standing with Beaver fans. But let's set that aside for now. Do you remember when he did that interview telling everyone that no, he wasn't actively looking for a new job? Remember? Yeah, he was lying. At the very least, he was disingenuous. And...if you have a contract, is it cool to get paid and not perform at the level that you have before simply because you know that you're leaving soon? And, as a coach demanding his players to give their all, doesn't leaving the way that he did make him a hypocrite? So he's a liar, a slacker, and a hypocrite. And you want us to respect him? f%#* him. Oh wait, none of the members of this board have ever lied? Holy s%#t! That's amazing! The fact of the matter is that none of us know anything about how it actually went down, and you guys refuse to tell us how it "should" have been. There's no reasoning, no logic, just pure hate. We do know exactly what went down. On Friday night he coached the Beavers; never before or after the game did he say he was leaving. Less than 12 hours after the clock hit 0:00 he assembled the team and told them he was leaving and had half of his coaching staff all lined up. Less than 36 hours later he was in East Lansing. Must have been one hell of an all-night negotiating session with MSU to get a multi-million, multi-year contract get all ironed out in less than 12 hours, and for him to assemble half of his staff. Most of us here aren't that gullible. The deal was in the bag, long before either the Washington or Oregon games, and he was no longer 100% committed to OSU in either game.

Hypocrisy, dis-honesty, and a spineless lack of integrity are not qualities that a mentor of young men possess.
Tough to look up to a dude like that.
JS needed to spend a lot more time with Pat Casey.
Go Beavs!!

After UW but before uo is what was floating around town. Whether it was before or after the UW game, is irrelevant. Either scenario is wrong. And before it was "in the bag", it was being considered or discussed. I suspect Mel's seat wasn't even cold in East Lansing when JS's agent either called, or was called. By the time we were sleepwalking in the Palouse, I suspect he had agreed, verbally and unofficially, to take the position. All that was left were the details of the contract, and trying to keep up appearances until the end of the season. Pretty hard to do when your heart is really not in it, and you are on the spectrum, as it were.
Mel Tucker was suspended on September 10th, informed that he was going to be terminated on September 18th, and was actually formally terminated on Wednesday the 27th. Interestingly enough, Mel Tucker is in the news today having filed a wrongful termination suit against MSU; wouldn't it be apropos if it was revealed during discovery for the wrongful termination suit that MSU had contact with JS's agent between the 10th and the 27th. I am sure ee1990 would claim it is disinformation.

I'll tell - a good friend of mine, connected to the locker room, called me on Wednesday before the CW game. He told me that people he knew in the locker room said there was lots of tension, in-fighting and that JS had lost the locker room. THEY ALL KNEW JS WAS GONE - he had told the team. That good enough for you, skippy? Side note - I did not believe it at the time when I heard it, and thought it was just scuttlebutt. He was spot on.

I don't wish to crucify anyone. Am I part of the contingent that feels betrayed by our last HC? Dam right I am. We've already been over this ad nauseum. It's how he did it. Irimi summed it up nicely above on how he could've handled leaving OSU. You, on the other hand, spew forth nothing but vitriol, and personal attacks in here when other posters don't agree with you. It's nothing new in here, but ur bringing some extra sauce. Congrats on being the newest member of my ignore team.

And I am sure, 1990 will just say they were malcontents, and it doesn't prove anything - sound familiar?
As I said earlier, discovery in the Mel Tucker lawsuit, however unlikely, could prove very interesting, because of the gap between his suspension and actual firing. Not saying MSU wasn't justified in the firing. The timing is interesting, and what may have gone on between the 10th and the 27th of Sept.

I look forward to this JS betrayal thread continuing for the next 12 months. It’s so interesting.

I look forward to this JS betrayal thread continuing for the next 12 months. It’s so interesting. I thought it was 24? Damn! It must be his magnanimous personality, and apologists who wish to defend him. As I recall, the GAG threads went on for quite a while, until the new guy was installed, and started to turn things around. Can't wait for the 31st!
