So, what's the scoop on him? Pitcher, obviously, but coming from a much lesser program. Anybody know anything?

Only saw parts of 4 games, but saw no player that was D1 on those days. Texted former colleague connected to WU's program. Stated Dorman and Canham must see something, but... one of his last starts was vs WU, 2+ IP, 8 hits, 8 earned. He was 1st Team, with over 4.5 ERA in that conference. So??

Also talked to a NWC coach and said that he's legit and not shocked he's high D1....all three Whitman rotation transferred to OSU, hole and Utah.... He's dominating this summer as well

But, as he said, the NWC is no where close to D1 hitters.

Joe Paterson came from Linfield. Sometimes it works out. The coaches must see something.

Joe Paterson came from Linfield. Sometimes it works out. The coaches must see something. Ethan verbaled to OSU out of high school and was sent to LBCC to season after fall camp. Coaches have liked him since he was 16.

So, what's the scoop on him? Pitcher, obviously, but coming from a much lesser program. Anybody know anything? Hostetler made 13 appearances and 12 starts for Whitman in 2024, posting a 4.54 ERA in 75.1 innings of work. He struck out an impressive 92 batters, but did have command issues. Hostetler allowed 35 walks and hit 21 batters. Hostetler projects as a bullpen piece and features a three-pitch mix of a two-seam fastball, a slider and a changeup. His fastball has reportedly been up to 96 mph, while he tends to sit more in the 93-95 range. His slider sits in the 81-83 range and his change the 84-86. The fastball will be his bread and butter, with late arm side fade. He is currently playing for the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaska Baseball League, where he has been stellar. Hostetler has thrown 14 innings in three games for the Miners, all of which have come out of the bullpen. In those 14, he's punched out 15 while allowing just three hits. His command issues have also seemingly improved, walking two and hitting one. First Team All-Northwest Conference last year. I am guessing that Hostetler is a natural reliever, who was pressed into a starter's role at Whitman out of need, which happens.

Tyler Mejia to the portal. According to BeaverBlitz.com Mejia - hurts to lose a lefty. He only pitched 10+ innings in 2024, none after Apr 30. His 2024 season stat of .311 BAA is not impressive.
