Just so we're clear....are we trying to say that we are 4-14 over our last 18 games because our former coaches daughter started a relationship with a player back in 2009? By the way, in 2009, we were one play away from going to the Rose Bowl, so unless we're implying that they kept their relationship a secret from everyone for TWO YEARS until the pregnancy made it unavoidable, I think you guys are way off base here.

Not in the slightest. I am saying that our former coaches daughter getting pregnant by one of the former coaches players, and having a baby out of wedlock, coupled with the fact that the player was suspended for unknown reasons created internal friction in the team, distraction from the Head Coach, and contributed to a very bad season. That is what I'm saying. No bigger Coach Riley fan here than me, by the way. And yes, this again is only my opinion.

Correct, this thread is super ADD right now, but the origin of this was bringing up the personnel issues, and the "losing the team" issues towards the end of Riley. One of the more troubling thing with the slide over the last few years was with the dynamics of the team. the locker room. The Stevenson thing was just part of it. albeit it a big one. there were some other things here and there.

Speak up. Two things (well people) stick out. First is Ryan Katz, his demotion and the locker room rift it created. There was a team Katz and a team... well team, as Mannion was just the new kid. There were players that believed that Katz got the short straw and there were players that just trusted coach. When you have guys that back a player and his perceived unjust demotion, you have players that now stop listening to the coaches, or giving 100%. Hindsight tells us coach was right. Hard to see that in 2011 though. 2012 really fixed a lot of that ill will though... Ryan Murphy. This was pretty under the radar I think by most, but Ryan Murphy's dad posted some pretty inflammatory stuff in the comment section of a... ESPN? can't quite remember... article. It collarborated with other rumors that he and a few others were at odds with Riley and Banker, and might lend some insight to a disappointing 2014 campaign from a heavily senior laden defense that should of been one of the better ones in the nation (DL injuries nonwithstanding).
