I'm guessing 6-7, put 7 on my poll guess. More than that and I'll be happy.
Personally, to those who say it's gotta be 50/50 or better in conference this year, get real. It could potentially happen, I think 7 or 8 is quite doable since the managed 5 last year somehow. 10 or more is going to be tough.
I don't see a tournament team, but I think a 50/50 or better season record can be doable. Gotta win the next 2 OOC games though probably.

I'm on the 5-8 win "train"... picked 6. With the average loss being 20pts vs the only Pac12 type competition... Baylor might finish top 3, Nebby and Pitt prob 6-9 ish... not seeing much more.

I just realize I forgot to put a 0 on there.

I just realize I forgot to put a 0 on there. That's what Warren Nolan has for its current prediction! 😳

I went with 5. From what I’ve seen on floor, not sure we can surpass last year’s total. I have seen barely any Pac 12 bball thus far, so just going off of our team. Maybe league is down this year.
I will say that I believe this team has the ability if hitting on all cylinders to pull a mild upset or two. Problem is how often will that actually happen, and I think they could lose some they might have won.

Do you think we can’t hang with Pac 12 teams without any sort of proficiency hitting the three point shot?

Do you think we can’t hang with Pac 12 teams without any sort of proficiency hitting the three point shot? Ahhh got it. I think if hit at about our season average, which I think is about 27%, we can be competitive with the bottom dwellers. To beat the mid-pack or better teams, likely have to be a good bit better than that. I think we’ll have a few games that we do that, just need other things to go right too. All that said, still see about 5 wins. One encouraging thing is the performance in OT games thus far, though those were against lesser teams that one might argue we should have beat in regulation. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Do you think we can’t hang with Pac 12 teams without any sort of proficiency hitting the three point shot? I have hated the 3 point game since they added it to the college game. If we had 3 or 4 players on the team that could shoot like Jeff Stout back in the day, before the 3 point shot was added, I'd probably love it though. Live by the 3, die by the three. Problem is, at 27% you're going to do a lot more dieing than living. Get that up to 34% or higher as a team and it can be a useful tool. Last year the only players on the team that made that mark were Ryuny, Pope and Rataj. This season we don't have anyone consistently making that, Lake and Marial and Ndong have done it, but in limited attempts so it really doesn't mean they are proficient 3 point shooters. I'm happy to see them getting the frontcourt more involved the last couple games. Maybe that could open up the 3 point game some, but if they ain't falling in the bucket it's a dangerous game.

Oregon State is currently 94th in the country at defending three-pointers. The issue is that Oregon State is 342nd out of 362 (21st-worst) in making three pointers.
Several of Oregon State's numbers are very good. Free throw shooting is great, defensive rebounding is great, and overall shooting defense is 71st in the country.
Everything else is not great.
I should note that the defensive rebounds look great in a vacuum, but that is because Oregon State is defending very well and generating a lot of missed shots. However, Oregon State is 292nd (71st-worst) in limiting opponents' offensive rebounds.

I also have come to hate the 3. Back when it was new, it was kinda fun, but now, it rules the game. Of course, it does. You need the 3 to get back into a game when you've fallen behind. You need the three to open up the opponent's defense. You need the 3 to put a dagger in the opponent's heart. It's extremely useful. I think our elite eight squad had a couple players who could consistently drain a 3. We need that. Hopefully, it's still early and someone will step up. Otherwise, we'll end up running down court and giving up possession as the ball hits the rim with a thunk.
