Been scratching my head about why Adlee has been getting so little time in the games. Last summer in an interview she said that she had had knee problems that she decided to deal with by physical therapy instead of an operation because otherwise she'd have missed last season. I wonder if that knee problem has come back to haunt her.
Also after seeing the complaints on this board about how slow and unathletic the Beav's are it greatly amused me to read on the UConn board after their teams loss that their fans were convinced that it was due to how unathletic and slow their team was. LOL

LOL Not sure what you are reading to base this on...comments about last year's team? Yeah, I would agree and they no doubt were comparatively slow and unathletic and were particularly exposed in that area when it came to matchups with teams like Colorado and LSU. This season is different in that Rueck has definitely added some speed/quickness (which I think is the real issue. Athletic ability can be defined in many different ways). Hunter provides that in addition to her potential to become a much-needed "true" point guard, which should be a huge addition to the program. Paurova provides it as does (IMO) Shuler. IMO, when it comes to the backcourt players, only Marotte really adds some real speed among the retuners. Pietsch probably does as well but she's somewhat of an outlier in this discussion because her height puts her at a disadvantage. The top players at the point who lack height are usually lightning quick and can create offense for themselves in addition to distributing the ball. Pietsch just isn't at that level and is basically a backup type of player. I don't think there was any coincidence that Rueck stuck with Hunter and Paurova for a chunk of minutes once it was evident that the starters could not keep pace against APB. As I mentioned in that thread, matchups matter. The frontcourt is fine. Beers can run just fine as can Rees. Timea moves well enough and I don't think she's 100 percent yet. Lily is technically a guard but is really a tweener and a 3-point specialist to boot. I don't think she lacks speed for what they need out of her. Anyway, the addition of Hunter, Shuler, Paurova and Rees adds plenty of speed/quickness.

She can drive to the hoop, but the jury is out if she can finish at the hoop. She has good arm extension, she's aggressive, and she uses the backboard effectively - so she has some of the makings of a slasher who can finish... I agree that she has good horizontal speed and good muscle in her perimeter defense...She can bust a high screen as well as anyone on the team. If she can shoot or not is pretty much an unknown as of now because our sample size remains way too small.... GO BEAVS!! I based my comment on what I saw of her in many of her games last year as a senior in high school. She had no problem finishing at the hoop and from what I've seen so far this year she is getting to the hoop but appears that she is playing a bit tight so her shots are coming up short. That is the easiest problem to correct. Once she relaxes those shots should fall. 5/5 finishing on her drives to the hoop tonight against ucd. Granted it was in a blow out but the shots were all contested.

It took her a couple games to relax and since then has been deadly on her drives. She may not be very big but is regularly finishing through contact. She and Donovyn are a really good pair of freshmen at the point and add Martha in the mix and the Beavs have options there.
