I don't put much stock in who plays, who starts at this point in the season. Scott's looking to see what he has, and he'll juggle some things. One thing I find interesting, though: Timea was a McDonald's All American; Talia would have been if her senior year hadn't been cancelled. Neither one is currently starting. And that is another head-scratcher---both of those players are very talented and should be starting and getting lots of minutes so that they can get their games fine tuned and ready for the Pac-12 wars!

So was Greta Kampschroeder, who couldn't play dead here and is now buried on the depth chart at Michigan. High school titles mean nothing.

Adlee bit on a fake and was scored on. She got pulled right after that. Last year I noticed that Adlee was all over the court, called her the eveready easy shot, but always managed to be on her player when necessary. Definitely a high risk high reward style of play.

It makes a great board to read the various takes on the guard play. It's not a surprise that we don't all agree.
I have been impressed with Hunter's steadiness, even while still finding herself with her shot, and the energy Shuler injects into the game. Those minutes are coming straight out of Martha's time, and I would be surprised if she gets many minutes as long as the freshmen are playing at this level.

Hate to tell you this but that has been my prediction on Timea. She will have some struggles i cant say why, id hurt her feelings. Shes a grest kid! Reese is the starter figure it out. I predicted donovon as starter also. Figure it out? Il make another prediction talia will not be starter by league dom is to good to not start her. Unless coach caves.

I know it’s only 2 games in but to my eyes Donovyn has already surpassed Martha. But I’m just a dumb fan.

From what I've seen last year and so far this year, Martha is still playing Euro ball. On offense she regularly uses her off arm/hand to hook the defensive player and get around her.
That and she is shorter than most Beaver point guards.

20 and 14 in just 17 minutes. This is a very special player we have. Go Beavs! Yeah, she's definitely the go-to "star" of the team. I think once some of the others establish themselves it could make for a pretty good season. I think Beers can carry the team to a certain degree while chemistry is developed with the newer players and Rueck finds out what combinations play the best together. I like your phrasing here. Beers is a good enough player, strong enough, positions herself well on the block, that her play can help carry the Beavs through lesser opponents. As long as players can get the ball in to her, the Beavs have a chance. I'm looking forward to the seeing how the rest of the team develops throughout the non-conference season. That's going to be the key to how strong they can be down the stretch.

Post entry passes seemed effective. Much better today than game one and from what I remember about last year. Beers and Rees are going to be a tough combination around the basket. Another thing I noticed was speedier offense when the opportunity presented itself. Still pretty deliberate but it seemed like they were more confident offensively. Plenty to clean up overall but this is going to be a competitive team in a tough league.

It's way too early to really comment but I would love to see them push to get quicker scoring opportunities and more open 3 looks for their shooters, running quick actions for them, attack and dish opportunities.
If the coaches believe this team is a good defensive team, then they should want more possessions in a game and not less.

Unless I missed something, Talia definitely started today. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, but I would be surprised to see her lose her spot in the starting lineup.
Did she make a couple bad passes? Yes. And maybe she didn’t light it up from three point range either, beyond the logo shot to beat the buzzer. But she was able to contribute in other ways. She’s a facilitator on the offensive end and had some nice assists throughout the game. Her shot will come to her.
I’m really pulling for this kid. In case you all forgot, when everyone seemed to be heading for the hills, TVO was one of the few who remained loyal and true to her commitment. Although her role on this team may be shifting, she will always be an OSU legend to me.
GO BEAVS!

The best defender against Lucy Olson of Villanova was Kennedie Schuler. Lucy may have scored 1 basket vs Schuler but that was it. Schuler was the only defender that was able to anticipate and fight through the high ball screen and stay in front of Olson. Kennedie also did a great job of denying the ball. This is the primary reason Schuler is taking minutes from Martha and Adlee. Schuler also did a fine job running the point, and getting to the rim. I believe we will see more minutes for Martha, Adlee, and even our 6'7" post in the remaining non-conference games. Villanova required our best defenders and remember that Rueck and the team have committed to defense first this season.

Martha will play this season, but there will be times the match-up is so unfavorable that she won’t. Yesterday was that. Adlee is a great shooter, probably the best on the team, but she won’t play in games where she can’t defend. Rueck gave her a couple opportunities against APB and one opp against Villanova. She couldn’t stay in front of anybody. We all know, that Rueck will lean quickly away from players that he does not trust on the defensive end. It’s probably the only reason Kennedie is playing at this point. She is a strong, quick athlete that does a solid job of defending. Rueck is ok with her not doing much offensively. If he can choose between 10-12 of good defense (Kennedie) or 10-12 mins of good offense (Adlee), he will choose defense every time.

Kennedie is really good on offense, her speed allows her to drive to the hoop better than most on this team.

She can drive to the hoop, but the jury is out if she can finish at the hoop. She has good arm extension, she's aggressive, and she uses the backboard effectively - so she has some of the makings of a slasher who can finish...
I agree that she has good horizontal speed and good muscle in her perimeter defense...She can bust a high screen as well as anyone on the team.
If she can shoot or not is pretty much an unknown as of now because our sample size remains way too small.... GO BEAVS!!
