I didn't see the game today but looking at the box score I see no minutes for Martha---was she in uniform and warming up? And only 7 minutes for DP after last weeks sharp performance---that is a real head-scratcher??
Such an important win. Hopefully it will help exorcise some of last season's late game melts.
btw, Villanova was picked as #4 in the Big East pre-season (nearly #3), behind just UConn, Creighton & Marquette.
The defense and overall basketball smarts of this 2023/24 team is well ahead of the 2022/23 rendition.
Has there ever been two freshmen from Oregon High Schools as 'ready' as Donovyn Hunter and Schuler? What great recruiting!
Aleah came in as the only freshman from Oregon (and she started zero games as a freshman).
Siegner and Deven Hunter (2012-13) were both contributors as Freshmen, and Devon started most of her freshman season.
But to see a freshman PG from Medford, Oregon, leading the team in minutes played (albeit after only 2 games) is pretty neat. In 2 games for Donovyn: 9 assists / 2 turnovers. Refreshing!
Donovan is definitely ready. I'm not convinced Shuler is a Pac12 guard but hope to be proven wrong. Adlee not getting minutes is pretty surprising.
I was fortunate to be able to watch a lot of Kennedie's games last year. From what I saw she will be a good pac? guard. Just have to have patience, she is only two games into her college career. She and Donovyn together have the ability to make opposing teams think twice about a full court press. And once in the front court she has a quick first step towards the basket.

Really not sure what is going on with playing time. That the Freshmen are out there is to be expected. But Martha never to make it into the game? Adlee plays less than a minute, gets a foul and is pulled, never to return?
Hunter- Defensively she does great against the ordinary players, but the Zaay's and Lucy's of the world are still too much for her. Offensively it's all a lot for her still.
AJ- Defensively she's doing great. Offensively she seems uncomfortable out there.
Beers- Not much to say, except that the refs feel that giving what you get doesn't apply to her.
TVO- Her all around game is great. But her shooting hasn't yet recovered.
Rees- Definitely a surprise that she is the minutes champ so far. But her play has been worthy of a chunk of time.
Shuler- I don't expect her to be getting much playing time in pac-12 games but she us much farther along than I expected from her.
Lily- From what I've seen and heard Lily is a really sweet, nice person. And I haven't been sure she has the grit to be a really good basketball player, tonight my thoughts may have turned.
Paurova- Didn't play enough to say anything.
Timea- She's been having some shooting problems from taking shots that are way more difficult than they need to be. Also she's made passes inside that have been way off. I can't tell if she is making a bad pass or the other person isn't making the correct move.
