I actually heard that rumor yesterday. Hopefully no legs to it. Clueless Jon Wilner put Barnes at the top of his list for Cohen replacements so it probably wont' happen. However, I think Scott's done an good job as OSU AD and I'm not advocating we fire him, so don't get twisted, but could we do better? |

If he has been contacted or is considered a candidate, he needs to come out and say he is staying. If not, he needs to resign now. Otherwise, the people he is dealing with wouldnt trust him. You can't be negotiating and have an eye in a different job.

Then it's 50/50  It would not be a salary issue... last I saw Barnes made more than Cohen's base with incentives to reach over a $1 mil/year. Again... to me a crazy figure for an AD with dozens of assistant ADs and support staff. But that's another story. Husky friends say it is hands down Chris Petersen if he wants the job. They will go through the weeks/months of required vetting and hiring processes, but big, BIG donors want CP. |

If he was poached by u dub he'd never be able to show his face in Corvallis again I'm sure he wouldn't mind. I mean, he never showed his face in Logan again after OSU poached him from USU. His parting gift to the Aggies was, with one foot out the door, hiring the worst men's basketball coach at USU in the last 40 years. By the way, I really don't want any of this to be taken as animosity towards OSU. I know you would rather have a better option. I just don't see one. I think you're going to be in the MWC; possibly renamed the PAC-14, but basically the MWC plus OSU and WSU. Here's the thing. We'd be thrilled to have you. You're a great fit. You'd make less money, but it takes a lot less money to compete in the MWC. Why wouldn't you want to be in a place where you're wanted, with, and again, I know you don't like to hear this, very similar schools? |
