ok, this conversation is going all different sideways. The point I think that is being made is that the SEC is pretty dang dominating in Omaha now and the forseable future, and it will be much tougher to compete with them if we end up in the MWC. Obviously, none of us have much choice in the matter, but unless someone donates 100 million plus or minus to endow OSU baseball NIL money and coaching staff salaries, the future is going to be a whole lot tougher for our baseball team. Keeping coaches especially in this new world is going to be absolutely brutal. With SEC and b1g teams making $80 to $100 million more then us in media money alone, and coaches still being the number one benificiary of that pile of cash the pressure will be immense. Our baseball head coaching position is endowed. That is what she said: "Well endowed" |

I can't readily find the revenue/expense numbers for baseball from an OSU source. It could be revenues could be dramatically different based on post season success? I kind of wonder about any sources outside of those directly from the university. Those are the 2020 numbers, which is why I think that there is all of this confusion. The 2020 numbers are awful for everything. |

The SEC "challenge" won't change because OSU is not in the Pac12 any longer. Baseball just doesn't get the NIL dollars period. If you're thinking some other conference move is going to minimize the chasm, it's not. OSU has competed and excelled for over a decade with "less". OSU had an amazing run, longer than most other elite programs. But, some seem to think Omaha can be a regular thing. Even with big $ it is not. And, the whole OSU vs the SEC discussion is ludicrous. OSU doesn't compete against the SEC. It faces one team at a time, and once between the lines $ don't matter. Performance isn't guaranteed by some "NIL" deal as proven by the '22 regional. According to your money theory OSU should have been wiped off the field by LSU. Nope! ORU should have never, ever made the CWS field. OSU wasn't and never will be in the top tier when it comes to $... budgets, TV, NIL. And, they'll continue to compete just fine. Are the doomsday crowd on this site really fans? Just looking for future excuses when things don't go OSU's way? Or, just have very little faith in our programs... coaches & athletes? Come back in a few years and either pat yourself on the back for your pessimism being accurate. Or eat crow when OSU still makes the postseason on a regular basis. Dude you need to pipe down. The only thing worse than an eternal pessimist( I admit I'm not far off from this!) is someone who constantly questions other fans dedication when they vent......it becomes obnoxious. Do you really think people on this forum are not real Beaver fans? I mean aside from the occasional troll, we are tied to this University.......we don't need you to be the moral compass for us. Thanks anyway. No, the actual WORST are pessimistic ideologues. And, no moral compass, just calling out folks like you that are pessimistic. From ideas you yourself create. You act like you know the actual fate of a program(s). You choose to be that way. It's a conscious effort to spout garbage about a completely new and foreign situation. Anyone with 1/2 a brain (you right?) knows this current state of affairs sucks. They also realize it will eventually become a financial issue. And, even those half brains know financial issues have other repercussions. But, those with more sense and intelligence realize there are always obstacles. There were obstacles as a Pac12 member. There are constant financial struggles. And, rational intelligent types also believe that there will be struggles, but they can be handled. And, well, the sky won't be falling anytime soon. So, in this case, pissing, moaning, blaming, and pessimistic views of OSU's certain demise isn't about morality, or lack thereof. It's just a waste, not helpful, and really the easy route. You have no clue what will happen and just making up negative BS. Well, we've had enough of that over the past 2 years. So, yeah, you pipe down! What's obnoxious is the eeyore fan constantly telling it like it isn't. Try the glass 1/2 full approach. You may find people enjoy you more. Thanks anyway |
