As long as there is a football team named the Oregon State Beavers, I'm still there.

Disappointed in a lot of the responses!!!
I'm pissed about the possible outcome but I will always support my Beavers!
This is when they need the fans more than ever. If we move to the MWC so be it.
Just look at TCU and all the conference changes they've had over the years and where did they end up last year?
Get off your asses!!

I, for one, would be happy to never see the ducks again. Every hero is defined by his enemy. The rivalry has been good for both teams.

Big ass collection of quitters and doomsdayers. I think much of this comes not just from realignment, but what cfb is transforming into - a big money machine with every greedy hand reached out, ready to hack whatever they can to get a few more coins from the machine. Nothing matters anymore other than the dollar. Are we there for entertainment and to cheer on our team or are we there just so some schmuck can brag to his buddies about how he disemboweled a conference and discarded the bones? At some point, the 95% in cfb will have to realize they're all chasing a ghost, and reform into NCAA 2.0, with the scales vastly tipped in favor of students who play sports, rather than athletes who show up to class once a quarter so they can get paid. Then, I think you'll see people return to being full fledged fans.

I doubt this worst case scenario will come to pass. Right now, it’s all posturing to get the best deal possible. Besides, a move like that would cripple OSU and give a huge advantage to UofO, which is not in the best interest of the state. The Big Ten may want Oregon, but it will be forced to take both or neither. And I’m not so sure that California is going to let two more schools travel across the country to play ball. You guys are freaking out too easily.
But hypothetically, if OSU gets dropped for bulls%#t reasons to a lesser league, you would still support the bulls%#t machine that caused this to happen? I love my Beavs too much to stomach such a slight.

Big ass collection of quitters and doomsdayers. If it was our team in those positions we would look for an out too. Except for usc and fucla.

What do you think the travel budget is going to be like for USC and UCLA? Do you think OSU would be able to sustain that across all sports with just a few extra million for a tv contract?

Stopping them would break their fiduciary duty and lawsuits would follow, lawsuits which anyone who stops uo would surely lose. Therefore no one will stop them from making a move that is to their financial benefit.

That is 6 west coast schools.
So you are saying the OSU would be only school not to pursue a big 12 or big 10 invite if we had one. I think that is a little bit of a high horse. So you don't understand why Arizona is thinking about jumping now? Everyone is nervous and we would be doing the same if we could.

The way its structured its the top 6 conference champions...with what looks like one less conference. I'd argue OSU has a far better chance making the college football playoffs playing a MWC schedule. OSU will be 2-0 against that conference by October ...this years team might very well go undefeated playing the rest of its schedule against the MWC.

Except with the move to the MWC money would quickly dry up and recruiting and keeping coaches would take a major hit.

I thought you meant had we been UCLA or USC we would have done the same. I don't think so. And I don't think we would attempt to follow them if the conference could be held together otherwise.
However, if the conference falls apart, then sure. I also don't think that we are not trying to get an invite. I'm sure OSU has options.
I keep saying that the Pac and the Big 10 ought to align. An east and west division. Rename it something grand and let it fly. The two conferences together would be formidable.
