Heartbreaker. But one hell of a ballgame. Got to give the cats some credit. They hit some huge shots when they had to. Raegan played a great game but missed at least 3 point blank opportunities earlier. Those 6 points would have been helpful down the stretch. Yeah, all those turnovers would have been great not to have too. And they really were way more damaging than a couple of misses by Beers, two of which happened early in the game. And yeah, it was a good game. The type that the Beavers used to win regularly.

Maybe I missed something but why isn’t Lily playing?

Maybe I missed something but why isn’t Lily playing? Seems like maybe you've missed a couple games. She hasn't been playing much, if at all, in recent games. Rueck has a more set lineup now and I don't think she's injured, but not sure.

Agree about the mismanagement at the end. Terrible game plan with an eight point lead at 2 minutes left. No four corner stall. They didn't win it we gave it away. But as a team we did everything right to win. Coach just let our players fire up shots without concern that the clock could bring them back into the game. I have to question Coach on this one. Really on Scott in the closing minutes and I agree with fire up shots, I call it chucking up shots. They did win it, out coached at the end.

The epoch collapse mode seems to be a pattern with this team. Looked a lot like the uo game in Eugene earlier this season, except worse. Tonight we played pretty well except for the last few minutes. Some of the stupidest turnovers I've ever seen. Rueck was apparently saving the timeouts for later but should've called one before it got out of hand to break UA's momentum.

TVO and Yeaney with five turnovers each, 10 of the team's 19. Arizona had 11 total. Way too sloppy. Although Yeaney to me is clearly the better choice in bringing the ball down the court because that's generally not where she has most of her problems...she just needs to be more careful with passes. Beers with 19 and 10...another strong game. Unfortunately Marotte did not score in the second half. I don't know if you can blame her entire second half on this, but Rueck kept her on the bench to start the second half after sitting during halftime as well. Maybe, just maybe, you switch things up and play the hot hand even if it's not what you would normally do...just saying.

Someone with a basketball IQ of 0 could have told Scott that we needed a dam timeout. So tired of watching similar things happen when the young ladies work so hard all game. Rant over!
On the positive side, we have shown two games in a row that we can compete with (and beat) top-25 level teams. GO BEAVS!

FYI, Colorado up by 11 over Utah in the third. Interesting

Sometimes its more than the players that choke.

That was tough to watch. So disappointed for the team, played really hard and well against another top20 team — well enough that we absolutely should have won as has been already posted! Gotta win those when up by 12 with 3 minutes left! Credit to Arizona for excellent harassing defense and hitting key shots when needed! Bright spot for the Beavs was the play of AJ for sure, and another really solid game from Beers (glad we have her for sure) and Bendu. Look forward to seeing what Timea adds to this team, and continued improvement from this young group! Go Beavs

Well, going 3-16 from 3 certainly did not help. UA wasn't all that good until hitting the three or four at the end there...that and free throws, combined with OSU turnovers, were the difference.

Same old beavers....terrible ball handling, failure to provide outlets for guards trapped in the back court, inexcusable turnovers when it counted most down the stretch...and predictably, you could see it coming a mile away...choke city, giving away a game they had in the bag with a 13 point lead with less than 4 minutes left to play.
Guess the beavers didn't want to beat their second highly ranked team in a row and make headlines...damn shame. smh...
why not run a double screen on the last play to get Talia more open for a 3 pointer?
lots of blame to go around...but especially with Rueck...

Hopefully the girls keep playing hard and together. That was 37 minutes of pretty good basketball.
We’d be 3-1 in Pac-12 right now if we learned how to close out games.
Arizona’s the more veteran, athletic basketball team and they looked like it down the stretch. Everyone who played over 17 minutes for them was either a senior or fifth- or sixth-year senior.
Bendu is starting to look more and more like the player we’d hope she would be. Hopefully she can keep the turnovers down and get her FG% up a little.
Really, really need to get better and more confident in late game situations becuase that’s cost us two really important games.

Honestly, the team is what it is at this point. The addition of Beers gives them a better chance than they would have otherwise and maybe Timea Gardner will add another boost. But they don't have many good ballhandlers and they don't have anyone who is shooting consistently from the perimeter. Some players show flashes of ability to create offense, but nothing has been consistent there either (maybe Gardiner will impact that aspect of the game). They really need more consistent offense from TVO. I think part of it is she needs to learn to pick her spots better and not try to do so much, especially when the ball is in her hands. Yeaney seems to lack polish to some of her game but remains the best option as the primary ballhandler. So, yeah, it was a tough loss. And frustrating to watch at the end there. But the team is getting better and probably will continue to get better despite the reality that this loss won't be the last. The rest is on Rueck. Both as an in-game coach and moving into recruiting. He can't afford a slow build with a couple of key pieces already in place.

Can't argue with what has been written about the coaching in the final minutes of the game. Some other observations:
We shot the ball well overall (51.6% to their 43.8%), but lost the game from the 3 point line (18.8% to their 38.9%) Nothing new there. We also lost because of turnovers (19 to 11). That's another familiar tale,
We outrebounded them 40 to 28, and, in the last 4 games after Christmas, have outrebounded opponents by a cumulative 62. That's a big positive.
Scott only played 7 tonight, and the 2 subs, Beers and Marotte, had 36 of our 69 points.
