I didn't mean to be that down on TVO. She is absolutely critical to have in the game at the end, with her IQ and free throw ability. It just seemed like many times when she was inbounding after a dead ball, she was bent over at the waist until the ref handed the ball to her. Could be lots of reasons for that, legs, back, wind. Or maybe that's just her style. I only pick up those things when I watch in person.

Beers has even joked about her height that has variously been listed at 6'2", 6'3", and 6'4". Noelle had the second highest minutes last night only Bendu had more. To my eyes it looked like she was in for her defense, when a bruin guard would start to get hot Noelle would be switched over to them. On offense she doesn't have the annoying habit of picking up her dribble until she knows where she is going to pass it. She just didn't make many mistakes in this game. After USC game, I was on the court near her, about 10 feet away. She looks to be around 6’2”, maybe half inch taller. I am 6’1” and my son is 6’2”. She isn’t 6’4” as reported but played like 6’4”. Also, Gardiner looks to be about 6’1”. You guys old enough to remember Wes Unseld? Listed at 6'7" I believe, but probably wasn't. Played the post in the NBA for many years against much taller guys, but more than held his own.Made the all star team several times if I remember correctly. That's what Raegan is doing. I don't care if she's 6'4" or 5'11"; the lady can play!

I think height inflation has been a thing for a long time.

It'll be interesting to see what type of impact Timea has when she returns. I mentioned this in another thread but while her skills are undeniable, it's difficult to project the impact she will have considering she's been out for a significant period of time with an injury and she has yet to play in a collegiate game.
While I would agree with Judge Smails that she won't necessarily fix the issues that stem from our poor guard play at times, I do think there is an obvious need for a 6-2 forward with her strength and skills.

At first I was bothered by Rueck playing Mannen so much, but I'm starting to see why as I've watched Mannen closely during recent games. She is a pretty smart player and doesn't make a lot of dumb mistakes. She is not a great athlete but has enough speed/quickness to hang on defense...that, and her tendency to go with such high effort all the time combines to make her a solid defender. She is a good ballhandler and can pass. But scoring is not her forte. If the Beavers were more solid with backcourt players, there's no doubt she would be playing fewer minutes. But that is not the case. Well put, and have folks noticed how good she is getting at creating fouls, taking charges. She really is taking one for the team, over and over. In a past game, two consecutive plays she drew charges. She even knows the correct way to fall like a stunt person and bounces back up, usually.

I have made a comment or two about how Noelle might be getting a minor in drama. May have to change my tune to stunt professional. GO BEAVS!

On Reagan being a heckofa player. As a Frosh she has 7 double doubles, no other Frosh in the country even has 5. The only Soph. with more is Aneesah Morrow at DePaul, if you know who she is. I wonder what the Frosh record is for OSU? This is great for Reagan and the team as they need some points. But not so great for Mit, who is clearly better defensively. But the team needs those points to win games. And on why they don't just keep feeding Reagan the ball. Because she's a Frosh who plays a very physical style of play and they don't want her to collapse on the floor in a wheezing mess. It'd be embarrassing. So far in the Frosh pool of POY I have Latson at FSU, VanSlooten at UO, Johnson at LSU, and Rice at UCLA, and Beers. What do you guys think? You have a good list. I haven't spent a lot of time on the rest of the country, but those three are definitely in the lead for the Pac12. Right now, I would say VanSlooten and Beers have a slight advantage over Rice, but if Osborne is out for a while, Rice may play an even bigger role and if she handles that well, it may very well give her a good push. If Timea comes in strong, she could take some of Beer's minutes, points, etc. so we'll see how the season plays out. I like your list though and doubt any other freshmen can take a run at those three, even though there are some very nice freshmen contributing.

I hope Raegan's success doesn't get expectations up from us fans that Timea will come in and dominate. Personally, I don't expect that to happen. Raegan and Timea are completely different players. Raegan is a board crashing inside player who I expected would grab a ton of boards and score some points. She's a banger, and as most now agree, is a real beast on the inside. Timea is a completely different type of player. She handles the ball better, is a better shooter from outside, is quicker, and has a better skill set than Raegan, but as far as I can tell, Timea has never been dominate in any one area. I think of her as a more skilled Taya. Probably not as good as a 3pt shooter as Taya, but better all around skills. It's likely Timea will need a few weeks to get in shape, get used to the pace of the game, and get used to her teammates. She's getting a very late start. Her help is needed though, and the Beavs need another player to help in the 'big' role. The Beavs are terribly short handed in size and adding Timea will really help, and her skill set is something the Beavs really need. Having a chance to play in non-conference would have really benefited in the experience factor. Saying all of that, I'd love to see Timea come in and have the impact Raegan's had. I rewatched the Jordan classic a month or so ago, and Timea made this really nice turn around jumper. If she can regularly make moves like that, or hit the 3 with high percentage, the Beavs will be tough to beat down the stretch.

I agree that Timea's ability is that I haven't noticed any weakness (no college games yet...) to her game and not any particular strengths. But the scouts I've read have mentioned her ability on the boards.
I just looked at OSU's defensive rebound rate and they are 23rd in the country. That is an amazing accomplishment without a real 4 to help out on the rebounds. Kuddo's to the team and the coaches to figuring it out!!

I am surprised judge SMALLS hasn't chimed in yet. With his rec league experience, and his youth coaching acumen he should have called this victory! 1-3 in conference. Want to talk more s%#t? As i said, they still don’t have the backcourt to finish better than 6th.
