the UC schools are in like 4 conferences. Why would that matter Because UC Berkeley is going to lose money and they have the most influential alumni in the UC system. UC Berkeley is "the flagship of the system. UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara don't have anything to lose. Lot of bureaucracy to wade through with no support. yeah but UCLA brings in more money this way. Its probably a net whatever at the end of the day. Most of their money doesn't come from sports anyways, sports is typically a money suck not a gain.

Well we cannot do anything about it. Will not help our appeal. But, can we do anything about it? That’s what I want to know. How will this affect recruiting? That’s all I want to know.

Another wild card is that women's sports may be seriously cut back by the time the LA schools leave. I think title IX is going away. On the big subject I still think this is bad for the LA schools. Yes the athletic department will get $20M more. With the exception of football, for all athletes it's a loser. There are some more things that will happen soon. You mean women in sports is going away?

This is a catastrophe for the rest of the conference. There goes our ties to the only recruiting bed on the west coast, plus all the revenue having the socal programs brings.

I know it can't happen but I wish the Pac-12 could vote to kick them out of the conference right now. Let them scramble to find games for 2022-23.
Or if they have to stay, just don't show up at every game to be played at USC or UCLA, so they have no attendance.
Seriously, screw both of those teams. I hope people give them holy hell at every single one of their road games in every sport.

There is a lot of speculation that more teams may be joining the BIG10, possibly Oregon and Washington. It seems inevitable that college football is headed towards Super conferences. For better or worse Oregon State is unlikely to join one.

Reading the Cal message boards I'm coming around to your point of view. If UCLA can add $25+ million/year they can buy a private jet to transport teams and and bail out Cal for their stadium debt.

If there is a Plan B, it won't be much. Oregon State simply does not have leverage. We're at the mercy of the currents.

Bye bye to Niner and coaching staff. ☹️ The salaries they enjoy today will apparently be VERY short lived. Mitch and staff? Baseball’s a little different animal. Men’s Hoops? Sheeeeeeyit. I’m concerned about women’s hoops. Gymnastics? This screws up a lot of s%#t.

What would you rather have them say? "Oh my God, we're totally screwed?" This whole thing came out of nowhere 10 hours ago. The statement was fine. Early damage control, nothing more, but better than nothing and consistent with the statements released by the conference and schools that did release statements. Our new president is from UCLA. Wonder what she thinks about her old school now? If the remaining schools stand pat, we still have massive media markets in Seattle, the Bay Area, Phoenix, Portland, Denver and SLC. And if the Pac-10 stays solid, USC and UCLA will be Big Ten outliers out here on the West Coast, effectively being the BC, Pitt and Syracuse of the Big Ten. This sucks. But if the 10 stand firm, I don't think it will suck quite as much as some others here obviously do.

The University is more concerned about Academics and building a Nationally recognized educational institution (which I think is the right thing). Like the Pac-12, the University is more interested in having sports diversity than making money and T.V. deals for Football. They want to put the money into non revenue generating sports. This is all in Scott Barnes' hands. Hopefully, the Pac can stay together but if we lose Washington and UofO, the Pac-12 is done and we are in the Mountain West.

The last game we ever play in the Coliseum will be a victory. I warned that the cancelling the 2020 season due to Covid, months before a call needed to be made, would reinforce that our conference is not serious about football and SC would think about looking elsewhere. Texas and Oklahoma showed them that the $$$ can make up for any other problems that leaving creates. Hopefully we tell all their minor sports to pound sand and play wcc or travel to Michigan in March for baseball. Not necessarily disagreeing but maybe we should wait for Texas and Oklahoma to actually join the SEC and play in that league for several years before calling it a success. A couple of 6-6 or 5-7 seasons in the SEC and berths in the Weedeater Bowl might have them second-guessing themselves, no matter the money. And IMHO it's a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black when USC blames the Pac-12 for "not taking football seriously" while keeping Clay Helton as its head coach for seven seasons.Damn, but that is one of the funniest things I've read.
