Looking on the bright side maybe they’ll finally update their conference name to reflect how many teams are actually in it.

Heard Whoregon is in discussions to go to Big Ten too. Utah also is also likely to follow.
Back to the Pac-8

Why would the Big Ten ever want Utah ahead of Washington?

Does anyone else hear that rumble of thunder coming from the Mountain West Conference?

"In an historic move that would change the landscape of college sports on the West Coast, USC and UCLA are planning to depart the Pac-12 for the Big Ten as early as 2024, according to a source. The move isn’t official and must be approved at the highest level of power at the two schools and in the Big Ten. The departure will have massive consequences for the Pac-12, stripping it of the schools in its most important recruiting and media hub and the two teams — USC football and UCLA basketball — that serve as the face of the conference in their respective sports. It is not known whether the schools are joining the Big Ten in all sports, only in football, or just in football and men’s basketball. But the future of the conference is suddenly in serious doubt — a potential merger with the Big 12 could be on the table, or the remaining schools could go their separate ways. The planned move creates significant questions, especially for UCLA, which is connected to Cal through the UC system. The development comes one day before the first anniversary of George Kliavkoff becoming commissioner of the Pac-12 and leaves him with a shredded conference that was planning to begin media rights negotiations later this year. Those negotiations will take on an entirely different tone without the two universities in the nation’s No. 2 media market." Way to go Kliavkoff. I don't know. These things take time to fester and grow. I'm guessing this is more of the gift of Larry Scott that keeps on giving..

What will the Rose Bowl do? Do they still invite the winner of the premier west coast conference despite not being as premier as before?

Utah is going nowhere. They have a 36,000 football stadium and are only good in womens gymnastics. They offer nothing. Washington and Oregon would be the teams to leave

Money, Money, Money! Now guess where the 4 Stars are going to go. U of Nike must be going out of their minds. Oregon has Phil knight, they will be fine. Maybe even better off without the PAC-10. Knight is 84. What happens when he kicks the bucket?

What will the Rose Bowl do? Do they still invite the winner of the premier west coast conference despite not being as premier as before? There's not going to be a conference to tie in to. Assuming Oregon and Washington look to jump ship too (as seemingly everyone online is talking about right now)....those schools have represented the conference 69 times in the Rose Bowl. The other 8 schools have gone 31 times, with Cal and Stanford making up 22 of those 31 times.

The powers that be in college sports are really encouraging me to find something else to watch.

This brings up so many questions, most I'm scared to know the answer to:
How many OSU athletes hit the transfer portal in the next year? How many season ticket holders decide not to renew to see where the carousel stops and what conference we are in? How many people who committed to luxury seats at the rebuilt Reser are now rethinking that commitment? What does this mean financially for Reser Stadium? I'm guessing projected revenues were built into the budget....those are going to be less than expected now I would assume.

Who didn't see this coming.
Whatever remnants are left...time for the PAc 12 to realize it's a baby step above the MWC and all that "elite" education and conference of champions BS never passed muster regarding NCAA football.
Time to make a power conference with what's left out west. SDSU? BSU, UNLV, we were just joking...we love you. Because now we need you.

But no way this happens, if Scott is still running things. Kliavkoff is small-time. I said it, when he was hired. I will keep saying it. We lost UCLA and USC, when Kliavkoff was hired. If you're not growing, you're dying.
