I could not care less about this news. I'm an Oregon State fan, and will cheer and support Oregon State no matter what conference they are in. SAME.

I'll happily watch OSU beat whoever we're in a conference with - but I do worry about reduced resources.

Canzano is reporting Washington, Oregon Stanford and Cal likely to follow. Does that mean the rest go independent?

We need a sugar daddy or three like uncafill or OSU athletics will be relegated to the trash heaps of non power five conferences. This is awful news, though not surprising.

Utah is small time? Record attendance 52,724 (vs. Oregon, 2021) You really have some stadium size issues. So stadium size has nothing to do with money, power, and top recruits in college ball? Yes, sorry to say it does matter.

Or, we're joining the Mountain West. If this occurs, leaving OSU, WSU, UA, ASU, CO, and UT as the PAC6, then expect to see the Big12 snap up all but WSU and OSU as the geography and fit works well for them. Very possible that WSU and OSU are the only two PAC12 schools left out of a P5 conference when the dust settles.

You really have some stadium size issues. So stadium size has nothing to do with money, power, and top recruits in college ball? Yes, sorry to say it does matter. Utah would have one of the smallest stadiums in the Big Ten. Bigger than Rutgers or Maryland (I believe), but the second-smallest among real Big Ten teams, smaller than every stadium except Northwestern's. And it's not even the most popular team in its own state. So yeah, Utah's real attractive when your alternative is Washington or Oregon or Cal or Stanford. We would not "join" the MWC. If things really go south and only six teams remain, the Pac-12 would still have the more-recognizable and historic brand name and the next hybrid league would be a merger, the Pac-14, the Pacific-Mountain Conference or the Western Conference or something like that. OSU WSU ASU UA Utah Colorado Colorado State Wyoming Air Force SDSU Fresno State Boise State UNM Utah State Lots of traditional rivalries maintained, some rekindled, with Utah playing many of its old MWC rivals again. No long, long plane rides, like UCLA-Rutgers, or USC-Maryland/Penn State. AFA, Fresno, SDSU, UNM have baseball. UNLV has location, but absolutely no one in LV cares, or has ever cared, about Rebel football. Hawaii and SJSU add nothing, they would probably be better off dropping football anyway. And I wouldn't want to go any higher than 14 teams, anything beyond that is just to unwieldy.

Wow! Things are in motion fast. Heard schools like to pair up with moves like this. Seattle station radio sports show mentioned Washington and Oregon pairing up and on the phones. Oregon and Washington Presidents and AD have no comments at this time when approached.

Form a superconference with the ACC - the Bicoastal Conference. Have a Pacific Division and and Atlantic Division. Play a couple of interdivisional games a year, play a conference championship game that alternates every year between Vegas and whatever place in their footprint the most Pacific division fans would travel to (probably Miami). Maybe for some other sports do preseason tourneys for a week in SEC or BigTen country just to piss everyone off. Yeah I imagine it's going to be 4 16-ish team conferences when it's all said and done.. and a bunch of teams scrambling to be included. We can just stop pretending it's not a big TV deal money grab and call one the ESPN conference, another the Fox conference.. CBS conference, etc. Current Big 10 + USC/UCLA = 16 Current SEC + Texas Oklahoma = 16 ACC = 15 I think? Seems like remnants of Big 12 (8?) plus at least 8 from the Pac12 would logically form another mega-conference with east/west divisions.
