Coach Wayne Tinkles time is up. Send him back to nowhere montana.
Now what coach could the beavs get to lead them to the sweet 16 on the tourney every year? 🤔
-Tyronn Lue? Former NBA coach, won a Nba title under lebron
-Gary Payton? The dude is ALL about phyisicallity and DEFENSE
-Nate McMillan? The guy may still be coaching the pacers in the NBA, but wouldn't he be a good fit to coach the beavs basketball team to march maddness every year??
-yalls pick for a better new head coach.
Discuss, disect and debate away!

Need to hire a big name type coach like Dennis Erickson in football. He immediately turns football program around from 5-6 season to 11-1 in 2 years. Must be able to recruit well that WT isn’t able to except for coaches sons. We won’t know who will be available until March or April before we can put down the names. Need a big name coach.

I'm not sure, because record wise, WT is the winningest coach since Ralph. Which isn't saying much, but it also shows we have had a lost worse.
That being said, I think the expectation should be going to the tournament most years, and to me it is clear this is not going to happen with Tinkle. It is just the same sh*t year after year. I haven't watched a minute of Beaver basketball this year other than in person at the PK Invitational. I saw everything I needed to know during that game. I think most people are in the same boat about Beaver basketball, which is reflected in the poor attendance and the lack of excitement over the "hot" start (against an absolutely horrible slate of non-conference opponents).
They'll likely go somewhere between 8-10 and 10-8 this year in conference, miss the tourney, maybe make the NIT. Once Tres is gone, next year might get ugly. Just don't see any players coming in with the skill and athleticism to compete with the rest of the Pac-12.
Basically I'm just checked out. I didn't even realize they were playing last night until I got a final score alert on my phone.

I hate to say it, but if we could lure Luke Jackson from the dark side, he would be a good coach.

I think Rick Pitino is coaching in Greece, He'd take the first flight over (and then we'd be on probation a year later) but hey.. Rick Pitino!

I think the best hire is a coach very few people on here would talk about. The up and coming small school guy that actually pans out. That second piece is the hard part!

The team should finish 10th every single year. Instead, Oregon State has finished 7th, 6th, 12th, 10th, and 4th. Tinkle has led the team to an average of more than two spots better than expectation. If funding increased by $2 million/yr., I could see being upset, when Oregon State was not among the top half of teams in the conference. However, that is simply not the case. I hear a lot of he should be doing more without an appreciation that he is doing what he is doing with much less than pretty much every other school in the conference. If the team goes 5-13 or thereabouts, I could see warming up his seat. Unless that happens, I am perfectly content to watch un-terrible basketball.

As a fan most of never know the inside scoop of coaches, the locker room vibe, their true personal makeup. So as a fan to throw out possible names is more than a crap shoot. That said, if we can just toss out names:
I was all in on a few until they took jobs for 2019... Mike Young was a fav, but he's now at VaTech; Dan Hurley, going to UConn; Chris Mack to Louisville; Nate Oates to Bama
-I liked what I saw on the bench and in the play of PSU. I have watched them play 4 times since Barret Peery was hired and they get up and down, have good discipline, and he seems to make players better. He doesn't get the chance to get the better recruits, but has a ton of D1 experience with good coaches and was quite successful as a Juco HC. He's made PSU respectable since his hire in 2017.
-John Becker still at Vermont is highly thought of, but no real West Coast ties that I know of. He's 193-84 in 8 years as HC, with (3) NCAAs
-Craig Smith is my new fav for potential hire. He's young (47), experienced as both assistant (Nebraska, Colorado St, smaller schools), HC- Mayville St (NAIA DII) 72-29, South Dakota St 79-55, now at Utah St 28-7 his first year and NCAA 1st round, currently 13-2... 192-93 as a HC. Voted COY (5) times, including last year in the MWC.
Have done no recent research on any new names for 2020...

I didn't think we were allowed to consider another coach from Utah St. Leon Rice from Boise St. would be one to look at as well. Although, he had a rough year last year.

Baseballll mentioned the PSU coach, I checked the latest game for the Vikings and the Vikings were smoked by a terrible Idaho team. That means absolute squat except I follow Idaho basketball. Idaho has a center who was not eligible until a couple weeks ago. No game legs the first couple of games. The last 2 games, Jack Wilson has gotten minutes and with that--rebounds. Beavers could use his rebounding. Just my total off-topic addition, but Wilson isn't a total stiff. The stats pages had Wilson playing all games, but he wasn't eligible to play.

Not saying Wilson wouldn’t help the Beavs, but he’s playing OK against lesser competition. He had 5 rebounds against PSU. Gianni Hunt had 5 against PSU. One impressive stat he had is 4 fouls in 6 minutes in his second game. I wish Wilson well and hope he had a good career at Idaho, but I’m not sure he would have been more than a bench player for Beavs.

Off course, really what bench? I guess my real point with Jack, and some others, this staff couldn't afford to lose key recruits. But, since development is lacking... does it matter?
