I like what your saying BeaverWBB, yeah, the possibilities !, the one thing that I think separates Jo and JM most is hands, ability to latch onto the ball and keep it, keeping it high, etc. She rarely fumbles it, maybe because she isn't getting hounded by other players, will have to see how she does in Div 1 play.

Here is film of Mitrovic’s Novosadska ZKA team from 10/6/18. Definitely worth a watch. She passes really well out of the post (she had 7 assists in her most recent game). She struggles a bit at the beginning but really gets going and becomes unstoppable.
She finished with 21 points (8-14 2FG, 5-9 FT), 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 4 steals.

Thanks for posting Jelena's stats, and for the updates. I have no idea how long it will take her to adjust to college ball, but I'm liking her commitment more every day. This staff being able to work with that size is pretty exciting.

I have to say I am surprised that Mitrovic will step out and shoot it from 3. Not with great efficiency at 8-29 on the season, but capable of doing so if need be. We have never really had a 5 take many 3s, so I’m not sure how Rueck would react to that.
What I have been most inpressed by so far from her is her passing ability. Whether its out of a double in the post or a post entry pass from the high post. At times she could definitely go up to the high post and make an entry pass to Jones, Brown, Aquino, or Morris if she is in the game with one of them and they can post. Obviously she can pass it over 99.9% of defenders with ease in WCBB. She can rack up a lot of easy assists if her offense can progress to the point where the other team needs to double because she finds the open shooter so well, and we have plenty that will knock it down. Being surrounded by 4 shooters makes it much more enjoyable for a post because it makes it tougher to double them and teams can’t sag off.

I didn’t watch the entire game but did watch most of the first half. I was also really impressed with her passing, Her ability to find shooters on the opposite side out of the double team will be very valuable at OSU.

Some of the latest stats and info on Jelena, who just won another Player of the week award...
Mitrovic's double-double lands her Interperformances Player of the Week award - Feb 27, 2019
POSTED BY: EUROBASKET NEWS follow us on Facebook Twitter
Jelena Mitrovic 17-year old center Jelena Mitrovic (204-C-01) had an amazing evening in the last round for Novosadska ZKA and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 21. She had a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds, while her team beat Student (#11, 4-17) 78-69. Novosadska ZKA maintains the 4th position in Serbian 1 ZLS. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Novosadska ZKA will need more victories to improve their 15-6 record. Mitrovic has many years of experience at Novosadska ZKA, through which she has constantly improved. Mitrovic has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.7ppg) and averages solid 2.1bpg.
Season averages for Jelena 3rd in the league in scoring 19.7 ppg 1st in rebounding 14.7 pg 2nd in blocked shots 2.1 pg
I think this article is wrong on her age. I believe she just turned 18 in January.

Will be interesting to see when Jelena arrives on campus in 2019. Unfortunately, her team did not qualify for the 2019 U19 World Championships which will be taking place in Bangkok, Thailand from July 20-28 (hopefully Brown and/or Jones will get the opportunity to go to the trials), but I would guess that she can still compete in the 2019 U20 European Championships, which will be taking place from August 3-11.
I am not sure when the teams' trip to Italy will be (it was late August through early September in 2015), or how that would affect it. I am also not really familiar with U20 championships or their importance.

I have a buddy in CT who is a big UCONN fan. He said that head coach Geno Auriemma made a special visit to Serbia between the regular season ending and the tournament start. He was looking for European players to make up for his heavy losses off from this years team. I do not like the sound of that.

Geno is one of many who made a trip to Croatia for Nika Muhl. I have not heard of a trip to Serbia though. I know he is working on a 2019 Polish commit, the younger sister of a current Ute.

It is always good to be paranoid, and it is always possible that other coaches will attempt to poach, especially as SR's ability to identify talent gets more recognition, but I also hang on to the character of our recruits - I do not know of a single recruit in the SR era who has publicly committed to the OSU program and then reneged. There is a "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" type of recruit, and then there is a "the grass is greener where you water it" type of recruit. Those are two very different outlooks on life.....Note that both Taylor Jones and Kennedy Brown committed ON their visits, so they must have seen or experienced something that led them to believe the grass was plenty green enough.
So I will still hang on to the public announcement.......let's hope Jelena is the latest in a long line of talented *and* high character recruits that SR continues to bring in for us to root for and be proud of....and Jelena looks happy in these tweets.....
Go Beavers!

Well, lets hope sperlman is wrong and Rueck didn't announce the commitment or acceptance of a scholarship by Jelena. That would be a violation. P.S.--- I know he didn't

Interesting find, but Sperlman, who claims he knows SR, loses some credibility when he claims that Scott announced Jelena will be attending Oregon State next year. Nobody with official ties to Oregon State can announce Jelena is coming to Oregon State next season until she signs her LOI, which hopefully will happen on the 17th or shortly thereafter, which is the beginning of the late signing period for basketball.

I have wondered what constitutes an announcement versus quiet discussions by an OSU official (like the head coach) with folks other than immediate coaching staff about a player they expect to sign. Can they tell a spouse? relative? close friend? Seems like it is something that could leak out, unless they use Get Smart's cone of silence during all discussions

The only announcements of Jelena joining the Beavers came from the two twitter sources I posted earlier in this thread - one from Jelena (a picture of her with a Serb flag draped on her in Beaver garb and the phrase "Next Step" or the like in Serb), and one from Passion Hoops (some sort of hoops related org. in the area). Our coaches (and most any NCAA Div. 1 coach) would not comment on a recruit until they sign. I think the thread goes on to castigate the Duquesnes staff (Shoo Shoo Rah Rah indeed) for some aspect of developing bigs or another, and still makes sense if you assume they meant these other announcements......they aren't grinding the ax of perceived NCAA recruiting violations, but of their staff not landing her.
Go Beavers!
