Might be the pick of the draft for value, depending... Of course the 'depending' is why he went 185th. About where he should be with the two surgeries, but major potential and work ethic. As a no leverage senior, he will end up signing WAY under slot. He is going to be lucky to crack $50K. Sucks the way it shakes out sometimes. Isn't Drew technically a RS JR? I don't doubt he'll go well under slot, but I thought he would be eligible to return in 2019 if he chose to.

Jayce Easley went in the 5th. Not good. $347K slot value. Hard to pass that up as an 18 year old kid... but at the same time, he could get 10x in 3 years if he comes to us. Hope he stays on board. Rangers have a strange draft board through 7 rounds. First 5 picks were all HS players, who usually come at a premium price. Lots of teams back-load their 8-10 picks with college seniors, but when you've got the first 5 picks as HS guys, that may not be enough extra $$ to sign them all. Teams usually know what it's going to take to sign the guys they draft. Maybe 5-10 guys in the first ten rounds end up not signing each year.

MLB.com listed him as a 4yr senior, but he did red shirt.

LMAO And... as I stated loooooooong ago... part of "need" is monetary considerations... monetary NEED... but who they "hope" will be there isn't sometimes... In terms of drafting and filling out rosters, "NEED" has many components as you obviously do not want to admit/understand. But, then again as you stated, it is you being you! Oh... by the way, was Nick taken 4th, but the Sox! You guys "need" to get a room. I'm disappointed in you, Judge....I would've expected something more along the lines of "DON'T YOU HAVE HOMES??!!!!"

As in, "the world needs ditch diggers too!"

It is impressive. I know that Fehmel wants to turn pro, but he won't make much money. His parents are going to as many games as they can this season because they want to watch Bryce in as many games as possible while baseball is still fun.

There was an article pasted on the front of Yahoo sports yesterday from Jeff Passan with this sensationalized headline: "Why a convicted child molester is likely to be chosen in the MLB draft" I did not read it, nor will I link it. Media will run out these headlines ad nauseam.

If the headline had read "Why a juvenile adjudicated of a sexual offense against his six year old niece is likely to be chosen in the MLB draft," would that have made it more palatable?

Re Fehmel. Wouldn’t it be great to have his Senior leadership next season?
I’m hoping he does a ‘Matt Boyd’: Matt was 13th round after Jr. season....and 6th round after Sr. season. That’s not to equate their “stuff”.

Media will run out these headlines ad nauseam. And... continue to use uneducated, uniformed verbiage to further sensationalize. At least 4 scouts had him 1st Rd talent taken in 3rd or 4th... IF front office would follow through. Every possible connection and background info was checked and ok. Thought I read somewhere else that confirmed at least 3 teams admitted he was on their board. But, alas it's a draft day regularity in all sports, those who know talent are often ignored for other reasons... some justified. In the case of Luke and MLB it's a farce. You can research every roster and find worse "people" somewhere in the top 40. Still say he'll pitch... for peanuts compared to what he's should get... and yes, he'll face a new round of scrutiny at every stop. It's today's "look at me... I've got a cause" society. But, he's talented enough and strong enough to persevere... if that's what he wants. I don't know Luke or his family, but we in our "circle" wondered if his regional performance was related to private conversations/negotiations with teams and whatever was said/happened they told him they had backed off.

His regional performance was weird. He seemed to not have a good grip. It looked like a physical struggle rather than mental. But who knows. I dont.
