Jayce Easley went in the 5th. Not good. Unless the Rangers go over slot... which they will not as he was unranked going in... he'll be a Beaver following Cadyn's path to Rd 1 (hopefully). maybe a Ranger/OSU conspiracy though... publicly diss Luke, then draft an OSU signee? ?? Ohhhhhhhhh or my pet conspiracy: The Rangers went on record to pre-shame the Astros because they got wind that the Astros are asking a lot of questions about Luke. Which they are, if you read the Astros fan boards anyway.

LMAO And... as I stated loooooooong ago... part of "need" is monetary considerations... monetary NEED... but who they "hope" will be there isn't sometimes... In terms of drafting and filling out rosters, "NEED" has many components as you obviously do not want to admit/understand. But, then again as you stated, it is you being you! Oh... by the way, was Nick taken 4th, but the Sox! Classic Baseba1111, "what I really said was X". Sure, you did. Everyone knows what you said. Everyone knows you're full of sh!t. Guess what? Everyone knows you're wrong. Everyone's laughing at you. Because you're wrong. And we know you can't handle being wrong. WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG Baseba1111 is WRONG and everyone knows it!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Generally anyone dumb enough to use "all, every, everyone" in discussions of opinion is the person WRONG. I'm wrong a lot, but... FYI from a long past post... "That's the difference... I have talked to/sat with/had numerous players scouted... MLB scouts, directors of scouting, and asst GMs... you sir have not... right? But, really... I don't know you, but have you ANY experience other than reading in this area/topic? Since you added "top of the draft"... I have not added this to the draft decisions made... but, a team's need and best talent are complicated by money. If a team can make a pre-draft "deal" (not supposedly allowed, but done all the time) that allows saving slot $ for use later on... it can swing a pick in favor of that player over another... considered more talented or MLB or not. Again, a different type of "need", but that savings and use of may outweigh the "better" player being picked. The thinking is that is exactly why the Twins went Royce Lewis/HS SS over Brendan McKay 1B-LHP/Louisville... the consensus best college player in the draft (1st college player taken/ went 4th to TBay). Twins needed/wanted more $ for later... signed him for $6.7 mil/$1 mil under to use later. Dollars not talent was determining factor. TBay actually signed McKay for over $7 mil... over his slot value. But... I'm sure you'll argue, hence you may have the last word" Now we can end this with whatever inane post you come up with... check please

Steven Kwan drafted in round 5 to Indians. Much higher than I thought, obviously he's done so much for himself this year and if anyone has earned this through shear moxie and focus, it is Steven, congrats and salutations!

That tiny guy, who could barely get the ball out of the infield as a freshman, has done well. I was sitting by some scouts at an OSU batting practice in Surprise. They really liked Kwan.

Jayce Easley went in the 5th. Not good. $347K slot value. Hard to pass that up as an 18 year old kid... but at the same time, he could get 10x in 3 years if he comes to us. Hope he stays on board.

Drew to the Brewers pick 185. Might be the pick of the draft for value, depending... Of course the 'depending' is why he went 185th. About where he should be with the two surgeries, but major potential and work ethic.

By the time the agent and the taxmen get their cut, it's not really life-changing money. I think there is a very good chance he'll be here, unless the family is dead-set on him signing. This draft is a pretty good illustration of how OSU develops talent, and how a guy can improve his stock and make much more money three years down the road, without experiencing crappy minor-league conditions as an 18- or 19-year-old.

About where he should be with the two surgeries, but major potential and work ethic. As a no leverage senior, he will end up signing WAY under slot. He is going to be lucky to crack $50K. Sucks the way it shakes out sometimes.

His pops spent 17 yrs in the bigs and made over $25M in career earnings, so it's feasible that money isn't a huge factor.

He does have leverage. Drew's only a RS Junior. He could opt to come back next year if the money offer isn't to his liking. Highly unlikely, though, because the money almost surely will be much lower next year, even without all the uncertainties around the health of his arm...
