Cadyn's pick at 37 is first round? Because of compensation picks?
Was his pick at 37 higher than projected? I was not really paying attention

The proper name is "competitive balance round A", but it's before the 2nd round. The rankings I saw for Grenier were more around 60, but MLB draft is far different from other drafts. People can be drafted in far different places than their talent suggests. Kids ranked well into the 100s, or outside the top 200 were drafted in the 2nd round.

So... you mean 'most talented' available isn't always taken? Talented at a position of 'need' Sorry... couldn't resist. Peace 'Baw' Many teams were expected to go pitching early and instead went with 'bats/position players' as they were seen as more limited than the plethora of quality arms. The WhiteSox were counting on teams ahead going pitching/catcher... Phillies going 3B was surprising to some, but Sox got their guy. Of the top 100 projected (14) still undrafted at pick 129... (11) being pitchers... Deason (Zona/#125), Mercer (uck/#105), Hess (LSU/#90) having slipped some. Beck (Furd projected at like #35 went #112) But, still over half are arms up to this point (135 picks about now)...

Uhh no, it's not "need" that causes players to be drafted in odd spots, it's signability, projections, and any number of other factors aside from need. The only "need" teams are drafting for are needing to keep their bonus pool under the total and using as much of it as they think they can. But, you keep being you, Baseba1111.

LMAO And... as I stated loooooooong ago... part of "need" is monetary considerations... monetary NEED... but who they "hope" will be there isn't sometimes... In terms of drafting and filling out rosters, "NEED" has many components as you obviously do not want to admit/understand. But, then again as you stated, it is you being you! Oh... by the way, was Nick taken 4th, but the Sox!

Jayce Easley went in the 5th. Not good. Unless the Rangers go over slot... which they will not as he was unranked going in... he'll be a Beaver following Cadyn's path to Rd 1 (hopefully). maybe a Ranger/OSU conspiracy though... publicly diss Luke, then draft an OSU signee? ?? Ohhhhhhhhh

Easley has close advisors who will have talked to the Rangers. His family has been there. This is not good. But the Grenier, Madrigal thing is good, but thE pro route has probably already been negotiated in this case.
