JG has one more year at OSU. Looking at her final game as a stake in the ground on evaluating her abilities, I don't see how we can expect much from JG next year. I hope I am wrong. Ruth Hamblin did not even play in the final two games of her freshman year, and had a grand total of six minutes in our final four games of the 2012-13 season. At the time, her upside seemed limited; she had size, but virtually no skills. Lightning may not strike twice. But it is not unreasonable to expect significant improvement from Jo in her second year, just as happened with Ruth, especially considering Jo is light-years ahead of where Ruth was following her first year at OSU.

I have no idea how many minutes Jo can play, she tends toward bouncing around and for the people who aren't Destiny that tires peeps out. Interesting comment above by beaveragain. That perception seems to indicate that Destiny's fitness level is among the best on the squad. Destiny's strengths include being one of the strongest players, pound-for-pound, on the team in the weight room. However, as she will likely readily admit, her fitness level is something that she continues to need to work on and will do so in order to be able to log a lot of minutes and remain productive as she gets tired. She will show tremendous energy and enthusiasm while on the floor, but she will tire before a number of the fitter Beavers on the team will show fatigue. With all due respect, how TF would anyone not on the team or the coaching staff know anything about the current and future fitness of any player on the roster? Destiny has played Div. I ball. She knows exactly what type of condition is required to play starting point guard at this level.

Against UCONN in the 2016/17 season, she played all 40 minutes and was at her best at the end of the game. In the last few games of that season that weren't blowouts, she consistently played 36 to 38 minutes per game. So from these numbers I see no cause to question the level of fitness that Destiny can achieve. If she's out of playing shape right now, that would be understandable given that she sat out this season, but it is probably easily corrected if true.

First, she was practicing with the team last year so I doubt she is in trouble shape. Second, we have one of the best s&c coaches around. I have faith that he will have every player in their best shape. Third, we have enough excellent guards that giving her a breather shouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone seen DS's musculature? She's a friggin' BEAST. My assumption is that she used this year to build strength, and she'll probably spend this summer losing some of that weight and concentrating on conditioning. My wife talked to her a little about it at the banquet, and DS gave all the credit to the trainers. All of which tells me, she is willing to work ridiculously hard and she takes instruction. She'll be fine.

She'll be fine. She is uncommonly strong. In case you haven't seen it, watch her hit a shot that's close to being a full-court shot, over her head. I doubt that I, myself an uncommonly nice guy, could have come close to throwing a basketball that far over my head. The ref looks like he can't believe what he just saw. And if you watch her passing in games, you'll see that she fires high-speed missiles. The SHOT

OK, Mykala vs Destiny in an arm wrestling match!
