Outside of Kennedy Brown, Taylor Jones, & Kemery Martin, does anyone know anything about our 2019 recruits?

Kennedy Brown and Taylor Jones are both 6'4" ish lanky post players that every team in the Pac would sign if they could...Both have visited OSU......Both good students..... I believe Taylor Jones was injured this past season and missed all, or most, of the season.....Both girls would benefit from 20 pounds of Post-weight....
I know nothing about Kemery Martin, but at 5'9" she better be a dazzler to beat out those already in line ahead of her....
[Note: I'm writing this from memory so you'd better double-check everything. BHF has a ton of archived info on Brown & Jones so I presume he will add some info here.]
GO BEAVS !!

IIRC, according to social media Taylor's dad really likes OSU.
As an aside, Taylor visited here and then went on to a camp. No visit to tsdtr. That in itself speaks volumes of Taylor's character.

I can't seem to track down anything specific about her except that she is highly rated in the class of 2019 ratings... If you have something about her can you share a link?? Thanks......

Do a search for Kemery Martin on this Board and you will find that you (411500) posted the information about her on July 19th, 2017. it was a Retweet by Kemery Martin of her AAU team (Colorado Premier), stating that she had been offered by Oregon State, Colorado, Utah and others.

We had offered 2019 G Laya Hartman out of Michigan, but she committed to Northwestern ~2 weeks ago. Don't know how we got on her radar (or she on ours), but I was hopeful for a while.....
Go Beavers!

beavsteve - - yeh, I remember the post I made and I remember that OSU offered Kemery.... What I am hoping for now is some information about her reaction to the offer...Whether she has been on campus....Whether she has tipped her hand one way or another ....
Now that I'm thinking about her I'm a little more intrigued....Why would Coach R. extend an offer to a guard when he has a gym full of good ones right now (and for several years to come)? Perhaps the answer is the Coach believes she is THAT good.... But until we get some kind of info on her we are pretty much shooting crows midnight....
GO BEAVS. !!

Why would Coach R. extend an offer to a guard when he has a gym full of good ones right now (and for several years to come)? Wouldn't SR's preference to be to sign one guard, one guard-forward, and one forward-center every year? It rarely works out that way, but you wouldn't deliberately go a year without trying to cover every position. Destiny and Aleah are going to graduate together. A PG recruited this year would be ready to start as a junior - wouldn't that be ideal?

Hoping we can get Jones or Brown to provide us with the much needed height down low What we need is not just height (which we will have a lot of) but rather a power forward. Both Brown and Jones are listed as post players, hopefully one of them has the skills to play PF. If not, I am hoping CR can somehow come up with one.

The only tidbit of information I can add is that Taylor Jones is starting to take her official visits. She was at Florida State a couple weekends ago. Hope she finishes up at OSU and declares she is going to be a Beaver. This is per twitter post.

Recruiting height when you're already loaded with height !!
As beavershoopsfan points out in another thread, the 2018-2019 Beavs will be one of the few NCAA WBB teams EVER to take the floor with 3 players 6'7" and taller..... This poses immediate problems for the Beavs about how to best use all this height, about who of the 3 will get floor time, about how the offense will adjust scoring to include the tall timbers when their shorter teammates are the most prolific scorers...
All of this height also poses problems in recruiting.
For example, Taylor Jones and Kennedy Brown are both top flight, nationally ranked recruits. Both are tall and their college future is in the paint. If you are one of these players what do you think about coming into a program that already has two Freshmen ahead of you both of whom are projected by most observers as starters by their sophomore seasons. Whether this is a game-changer for this year's recruits is hard to say.
I'm sure the other programs recruiting Jones and Brown are pointing out that we're loaded with talented height for years to come.... It will be very interesting to hear what Jones & Brown themselves have to say about this situation...
At any rate, food for thought during the slow season.... GO BEAVS !!

I agree with the recruiting concern, however if either could play power-forward instead of post, she would definitely get playing time. One could argue that with Grymek gone in 2020, another post coming in in 2019 could get playing time if AA is being utilized primarily as a forward...otherwise 2020 would seem more promising for bringing in another post player.

Well... for all that is said on this thread, I'm not sure why to be concerned. Development will happen or it will not. Players will step into roles or they will not. BUT, if you have paid attentions to SR/staff and player development and schemes OSU plays with what they have and makes it work... VERY well. As for recruiting... you get big talented young ladies, you take them. You might not get one in the next "batch". RS years, injuries, home sickness, academic attrition... you just never know. At one point we're guard heavy, another we may be heavy on bigs... but, SR has recruited athletic young ladies and there is room for as many as he wants to carry. The down side is that after this much time MW and JT may find themselves needing to transfer to play hoops. As far as Grymek, she may make huge strides ( I do not see her becoming as athletic as SR likes his posts as even Ruth would run circles around her), or she may go play overseas before her eligibility is up?! There's just lots of possibilities, but one constant... SR will mold his players into a "team" and by Pac12 play there will be a 7-8 player rotation getting the bulk of the minutes as per their performances/evaluations.
