Wow! I admittedly don't follow it as closely as some, but it seems to me that while sometimes on rare occasion we are in the running, but never "chosen". Great publicity and looks like a good player. The trend is your friend!

Yeah baseba1111, I don't think this is a time to be "yeah, but...." This is a good moment for the program. While GA hadn't won me over yet, it's undeniable the connection he can make with kids, and that's far more important. I sometimes wonder if baseball1111111 is actually Lindsey Schnell, always finding the cloud in the silver lining whether it's the right time or not. True, this ISN'T a "commitment" in the true sense of the word, but doing it on tv is a bit more firm than a typical "Twitter commitment." Of course we know nothing is final until Feb 1. But let's enjoy the moment and proof "the process" is working and bright days are ahead.

www.hudl.com/profile/4459235/jamire-calvinwatch how this kid delivers some slobber knocker blocks... He is a baller. The knock on him is is height but he is more skinny than he is small. He looks like he can easily add 20 lbs. Have him hang around me over the Holidays, that will do the trick!

1. Sure feels nice to have someone finally pick the right hat on "surprise announcement day"!
2. I think everyone here knows how this works and that nothing is final until kids are signed, qualified and enrolled... yet there's always someone here at the ready to remind us all. Lol
Go Beavs!!

So will they still go after Roberson too and take a gazillion WR's in this class? I guess they have some resolve that they are going to have a pulse in passing game for a change (if QB cooperates and has time to throw)

Nope... just shows your level of maturity. Attack the person but nothing to say about the actual post. I along with many dont get all flabbergasted by 18 y/o's and their verbal decisions at a point in time that matters little. Until they sign in Feb. it literally means nothing... EXCEPT a huge boost to GA and his program on national TV. The announcement may get some other quality kids looking our way, thinking immediate playing time. And, quite contrary to your "I told you so" blather is the actual fact that on this board if he is flipped there will be multiple posts deriding the kid/his word and the school he flips to... not I told you so threads! Baseba111 i think i did respond to your actual post. Your only comment was to cast doubt on the credibility of Jamire Calvin's commitment. It feels like you are dumping a bucket of cold water on this thread, which 99% of Beav Fans would consider to be 100% Great Day To Be A Beaver stuff. I don't usually load the wagon on verbal commitments when they just show up on twitter or when they come in the form of a scoop on one of the paid recruiting services. I prefer to ignore most of that kind of news and see who actually signs and THEN who actually makes it onto the roster. But this is different. True Blue chipper. Has the film to back it up from what i can tell. Chose OS on National TV. We have seen the orange lid now about 10 times on this broadcast alone. This is worth celebrating. I don't understand an initial reaction of doubting the commitment. You seem to have an issue evaluating your own posts. In no way did I cast doubt. Might have been your interpretation... just said until signing day it is great publicity. Commits flip ALL the time. The I told you so comment has zero to do with anything but your lack of an intelligent reply. As is the last post. You just tend to make stuff up to try and support the inability to read what is actually written. So "dumping cold water" is legit... but, also realistic. Way too much optimism is put in commits as proven by recent changes. Couple that with way too much bitching and blaming when signing day gets here and kids change their minds and schools "steal" recruits that aren't really ours! So... really hiw is today any greater day to be a Beaver than yesterday? The fact you also try to be "johnny cheerleader" focusing on the 4* feel good aspect (oh wow HS film looks great... that makes it sure thing lol) and ignoring other points made... like, the publicity is really all that happened until signing, and is a very good thing... that we have far greater needs than another WR... etc. So keep up the rah rah... read only what you chose... but, it doesn't change the fact he or any other "commit" is not a Beaver until signing day. Then welcome. And, then not a difference maker until ya know they actually make a difference.

Ahhh... isn't that basically what I said but even more emphatically with the national pub being the big news until actually a signed LOI?? Oh ya... did not preface it with... "oh my gawd a 4* WR with an awesome highlight reel chose OSU over three teams that are seen as traditional big recruiting powers what a great day to be Beaver fan cuz an 18 y/o made it so cool to see our hat on TV like a dozen times..."

How many of these WRs see the field next season? Lucas and Bolden leaving opens up a few spots.....and I have to think that Jarmon's going to get extremely limited snaps despite seemingly having the best hands of any returning WR (maybe other than Hernandez.

Is a Beav !! Great pick-up! Just committed on the Big Boy All American Army bowl! put on the Beav Lid and chose the Beavs on National TV. Suck it Riley. Trying to steal our recruits:-) Just kidding but seriously dont try that again. ITS A GREAT DAY TO BE A BEAV!!!! Great pickup for the Beavs and GA. Look what GA has to sale a WR prospect. In the recent past OSU has produced: 2 Bilitknikoff winners (Haas and Cooks), more than any other program. 4 All Americans; Hass 2004 & 05, Stroughter 2006, James Rodgers 2009, Cooks 2013 6 WRs who made NFL rosters; Johnson, Houshmanzada, Wheaton, Hass, Stroughter, Cooks Probably not selling our passing game of the past two years, would be my guess.

If he'd have recruited or coached any of them, or played a similar offensive system as they all played under, he'd have even more ammo. It certainly looks like we're headed back to a passing game. It's going to be very interesting watching the development of the offense the next few years.

As a mostly CGA detractor who has improved to neutral after 2 straight conference wins, color me impressed. Any live broadcast with multiple school caps sitting on a table, never EVER ends up with the Beaver cap being worn. It just doesn't happen. But this time it did. And I love it.
GO BEAVS!

Not sure why any Beaver Fan would make this out as a bad thing. We all know when the actual signing day is. It says a lot about what this kid things of CGA and the direction the program is heading.

It's going to be very interesting watching the development of the offense the next few years. It will be interesting for sure. I wonder what is going on in GA's mind as well. I speculate that after a tour around the conference, he has decided to become more like a Stanford than a duk, Cal, ASU. We know he talks to Whittingham frequently. My guess is they both see the need for an explosive passing capability. It is just the nature of the beast in today's football world. I think the center is more toward the UW, USC, Stanford end than it is to the WSU, Cal, ASU end. Maybe this is where he was headed all along. Who knows? It wouldn't be a bad thing to have run capability, pass capability, qb scrambling when necessary capability combined with a toughness overall, backed by a ferocious defense. I am sure we would all like that.

Article regarding Calvin's decision of the Beavs over the Huskers: www.omaha.com/huskers/football/recruiting/in-surprising-late-twist-huskers-miss-on-wide-receiver-jamire/article_f0da5cfa-d466-11e6-a3f3-07307b4d9600.htmlIt's easy to get focused on when a recruit flips from the Beavs, it's nice to have news regarding a big-time recruit picking the Beavs. I think his decision is solid, particularly if a major factor was in playing with his best friend in Arex Flemings. As for the future of the offense, GA hired Baldwin a year after Colorado State had a QB throw for 4,000 yards, a WR with 1700+ yards, and a RB with 1275 rushing yards. Seems pretty balanced to me. The backup running back had 400+ yards rushing. I hope you are right GZR about trying to emulate a UW or Standford in terms of balanced offense. Whether you rush the ball 21 consecutive times, or need to score 21 points in a quarter, it's nice to have the weapons to do both.
