Plus, the metrics have changed. When the "total number of TV sets" in a given region was "the" metric - that was before the digital age we live in today. People watch all sorts of content, and on all sorts of devices - everywhere. The only metric that matters now is the number of actual eyeballs on a given broadcast, and we now have the technology to accurately calculate that.
When games were broadcast over the airwaves exclusively - hard to calculate. Now? Much easier. Having said that, games that are broadcast by CW this season, over the airwaves vs. by cable, satellite or internet, will not help us in our quest to prove numbers of eyeballs.
The power conference leaders are no doubt aware of the Pac-2's tv numbers from 2023. Those are the opinions that matter. I don't think those people will put much weight in what tv numbers come in 2024 unless they are much higher than anticipated or stunningly low. I would be surprised at either much higher or stunningly low. But, you bring up a great point. It is key critical that not only we win a lot of games, and win big this year (tall order for a new coach, new system, players, etc), but also put eyeballs on as many games as possible, either by being at Reser, or by watching on one of the platforms. Viewership, and by extension, greed, is all these TV bastards care about. Because, we all haven't seen enough soap or car commercials!

Moving forward, as the gap widens, G5 teams that make the CFP will get annihilated.
Since I won't pay attention to the P4 if we are not in it, I would prefer to have a whole separate trophy to play for.

Those Farleigh Dickinson dopes don't know that they are supposed to be annihilated. Freaking idiots! They should have just dropped down to play in the NIT. Morons! I disagree, as always.

Yes but football and basketball are two different animals USC football playing in Corvallis would disagree. Yeah. I'm just pointing out that my post was about the G5 maybe putting together their own football playoff. And football postseason is a different animal than the NCAA mbb tournament

I was glad to see they flipped our token to a chainsaw. I was getting worried we'd be left out like a few of the schools on the map.
