I liked your post before you added the last paragraph - I could get behind that idea if we can take a 5 year hiatus - for several reasons. There is still going to be further conference realignment, and I think there is going to be some disgruntled fans/ boosters after a few years of never sniffing a "natty" in the B1G, and we will have more certainty by then where we are landing long term.
With the breakup and wounds so fresh at this point, suspend for a period of time, then impose the conditions (and others?) you mentioned. And if hole isn't willing to meet those conditions - F'em. It means that they really do not value the 108 years of tradition, and have moved on. Like in marriage, if one party gives up, you are dead in the water, no matter how much you want to continue the relationship. The offending party needs to make some concessions. You are correct with the home game first in the rotation - they are not to be trusted.
I like this post! Couple things.... Hole does not value the rivalry. They view U dub as their real regional rival, and have for some time. Their only interest in playing us moving forward is a cupcake non conf game. I agree on the hiatus thing as well to see how the chips fall as things continue to unfold. As for the "No Natty for you".....I hate to say it, but they are building towards a run. Who knows if it will lead to a "Natty" but they have the resources, and the brand. They are positioned better than most in this crazy college football landscape. Harbaugh leaving Michigan helps their cause as well.Being intellectually honest, you are correct on your assessment of their program. I may not like it, and how they have gotten here, but it is what it is - unfortunately!

Man reading this thread is brutal...Just can't believe that things have gone this far. I can't even find the passion to look forward to the season this fall.
I was sitting in the student section with my baby sister who was still a student at OSU when Erickson and the Beavs ended the streak against Cal. I still remember the old jumbotron graphic saying DING DONG THE STREAK IS DEAD. Grown men with tears spilling down their cheeks at the sheer magic of the moment.
For a while, we belonged.

If you want to hand Oregon a National Championship on a silver platter, stop scheduling Oregon. Give the Ducks the excuse to play Kent State. Let them water down the schedule. If you do not want Oregon to win a National Championship, schedule and beat them. Otherwise, prepare yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually for Phil Knight holding up the National Championship Trophy in Atlanta or Miami or wherever and know that you were a huge part of that trophy. You helped Oregon pave the way straight there. Fans advocating to not play Oregon are desirous to see the Ducks playing in the Tournament, winning a natty, cementing the little brother title for all time always. Play Oregon! Beat the Ducks!

It would be gross watching Phil's corpse holding up a trophy

History taking a beating in the 41-9 win over Notre Dame was even better proof that Oregon State belongs. And we still belong. And things will get better. But we need to have a great season from the money sports this year. Big wins against big opponents and take care of the business against the rest. I am still long on Oregon State. Great things are behind but great things are still ahead.

Lying and stealing? We get it, everyone is upset, but you're just manufacturing things to be angry about. The Willie Lyles thing was like less than $200 in impermissble benefits and receiving video scouting reports without written reports. That's it, and they got drug through the mud for 2 years while the NCAA "investigated". The whole Willie Lyles thing was slimy and outside of the intent of NCAA regulations. Lyles admitted Chip Kelly personally approved a 25K salary to him, retroactively, to influence recruits. He apparently influenced the heck out of LaMichael James’ mom, influencing LaMichael and his mom to move across the Texas/Arkansas border (with him? I forget all the details) for a bit so he could graduate high school in Arkansas, which wasn’t happening in Texas due to not being able to pass the basic math requirement. It was slimy at a minimum, not to mention Kelly got a 2-3 year “show cause” NCAA expulsion out of the episode… it was not a little deal. On the whole Civi War thing, as long as we get the home game, first in every rotation because uo has proven themselves to break promises when they skipped the GOR signing, I’m ok with it… but I’d be more OK with finding another major name rivalry partner or getting a game against a rotating list of major name schools once each year. It was Lache Seastrunk they were punished for. And yes, it was slimy. You think Mark Emmert loves him some UO? Lache is the one Lyles lived with before they even knew Oregon was a state, yet the NCAA said he didnt' have a "pre existing relationship". They should have slapped them on the wrist and reinforced the rules. Cam Newton's dad is on the record about getting a $250,000 donation to his chuch and the NCAA did nothing. When literally dozens of Ohio State players were, get this, STEALING athletic department property and trading it for tens of thousands of dollars in free tattoos the NCAA said they couldn't subpoena and let it go. But the UO is some big evil cheater because Lache Seatstrunk slept on Willie's couch. It's pretty interesting that paying someone $25k to "influence" another person was a massive multi year long punishment in today's world.

You seriously think we're going be able to "impose conditions", like we've got them over a barrel? What do you want, 2 for 1s with them?

We already said it. None of us on here suggested 2 for 1. What we did suggest, given their recent history - away and home, with Corvallis always being first. The other was a five year hiatus from playing them. Lastly, they should have to pay us to play them - at either location. Small price to pay for the financial pain they inflicted with their GOR stunt on their way out the door. Don't like it hole? Go play with yourself in the B1G - and go straight to hell. Them and all of their delusional prick fans. You know, like the one's shouting slurs at the Mormons. Or the fans that Chip Kelly yelled at trying to do an interview. The fans that the rest of the now former PAC loved to hate. Have a great evening!

But, if you start "imposing conditions," that goodwill and the money that accompanies it will disappear like a fart in the wind. The Civil War is bigger than just the two schools. But Oregon State will wind up a lot smaller by taking the low road.
