I am assuming BM is for Beavermobile. Since he is gone, you have no idea what he would say about any of this, and I seriously doubt he would "dickslap" us for wanting to write off the slug eaters for stabbing us in the back, and being the Kardashian's of college football. They left us, and the rivalry - not the other way around. A big part of the rivalry was not just geography, but being is the same conference.
It's OK - you are in good company - there are plenty of college football fans that are whores that will do most anything for a dollar.
The damage to the university has already been done. Playing them, without some stipulations, will do nothing to change that. I had suggested taking a hiatus for a few years. If that isn't what the "powers that be" want to do, then make it a 1 and 1, Reser first, and a large payday from them. They have the money from the B1G and uncle Phil - it shouldn't be that hard for them. Then play on. Being a spoiler for those aholes now and in the future is fine by me. I will just have to remember to bring my wrist rocket and 9V batteries to Reser on Sept 14th (just kidding)
Oh and by the way, regarding s%#t fans, I can find lots of examples for the toilet seat fans being s%#t fans, not so much for our fan base. Nice try.
I think it's ok to think we need to play them for money.....and I think it's ok to not want to play them. I get motivation behind each POV.....we are not making the decisions anyway, so I'm not going to beef on someone too hard for feeling strongly either way, as long as they aren't unreasonable about it.
I prefer to move on from the defectors, at least in football. We need to pave our own way to some sort of regional conference, whatever that is going to look like.
The 1 & 1 with us getting a pile of cash would be acceptable.....maybe. They might be motivated based on travel savings?? If they want us to come to the toilet bowl every year, F that.
If Oregon State stops playing the former Pac-12 members, the Beavs self-relegate. There is still a chance for Oregon State to get an invite to the Power Four conference, but that stops, if the Beavs stop playing top-tier competition, especially when Wazzu has already signed a five-year contract with Washington. One of the biggest things that Oregon State has that says surefire Power Four team is an annual game with Oregon. And nothing says small potatoes like ending the Civil War or by demanding more money from the Ducks to stay afloat.
Oregon State's 2025 schedule includes Cal, Houston, @ Oregon, @ Texas Tech, & @ Wazzu. It also probably includes at least six Mountain West teams. And that is probably close to a worse-case scenario.
I am still long on Oregon State. In my opinion, great times are still ahead, as long as cooler heads prevail.
