Wrong. I love your enthusiasm, though. Got get 'em tiger! lol You are incredibly stupid if you think it would have been a good idea for the 10 "betrayers" to take literally 1/3 of what Indiana and Northwestern are making. Legit_f%#*ing_stupid. Pro tip: If you're trying to say something to sway someone to your viewpoint, perhaps don't curse and insult them, because, you know, that never works.

I never fail to be amazed at how bad that dude's takes are. lol what. You guys are so f%#*ing stupid. The B1G 4 will be making perhaps near $100,000,000 a year with the next contract. The Apple deal without the Socal teams was like $20,000,000 a year. Oregon and Washington with their half cut are going to get over $30,000,000 a year PLUS B1G Network payouts, AND bowl game payouts AND basketball payouts AND CFBPO payouts, and you stupid motherf%#*ers compare that to CAL and Stanford in the ACC? Can you tie your own shoes? Had the Pac-12 remained intact, it still would have been a P5 conference, even without SC and UCLA. So every team would have gotten a full CFP payout, identical to what they will now get in the Big 10/Big 12/ACC. Every team would have gotten Pac-12 Network payouts. Every team would have received bowl game payouts. Every team would have received NCAA basketball payouts. To say Oregon and Washington would have only received $20 million per year is an outright lie, because they would have also received the identical income from other sources, the money you use to pump the figure up to $100 million. So the difference would have been nowhere hear $80 million, as you infer. That $20 million Apple TV figure had a good chance to double or even grow larger, depending on the number of subscribers, and probably would have equaled or surpassed the Big 12's and ACC's current deal. And had everyone agreed to the Apple deal, there's probably an excellent chance the CW or some other linear network would have signed on to show games as well. If they have room for OSU/WSU, they certainly would have had room for a Pac-12 GOTW. You seem to be very unhappy being a Beaver fan. If you even are one, of course.

Wasn't it a relatively short-term deal (2-4 years?) to be able to renegotiate it after some experience with the streaming strategy? Seems like that would be in the conference's favor too.

And that 20 million minimum apparently had been upped to 23 million right before it all fell apart. The subscription kicker would have been what made it worthwhile. I don’t know if the 5 million total subscriptions number thrown out as a example of how to get a 50 million payout in articles would have been reached any time soon, but I suspect to see the initial break even point (heard it was around a million or thereabouts, the 1.7 million subscriber number thrown out in some articles was just an example of what it would take to reach a 31.7 million payout) would have been reached fairly quickly… the 9 schools involved averaged a combined 425k in attendance last season, and I'm pretty darned sure TV football viewership far surpasses stadium attendance (OSU averaged 37k home attendance, 1.7 million a week in TV viewership last season - big viewership year, but even 2022’s viewership was roughly 20x home attendance). Surely Apple would promote subscriptions as well. It could have been interesting to be the first league to get a deal with them. It was a supposedly a 5 year deal that the league could have walked away from in 2 years if they felt it wasn’t working, that kind of opportunity may not likely be around in the future.

I agree that the Apple thing was intriguing, and had potential. Unfortunately, it didn't equal being a part of the B1G, with the LA market added. Colorado probably felt like they belong in the Big 12 anyway. Not a huge loss at the time, but just another domino falling.
So many mistakes, lack of foresite, greed, all led us to where we are currently.
A side effect of this for me is local sports talk radio is completely unlistenable. All they talk about is the upcoming B1G football season. I could not care less about that s%#t......FTd
