Hmmm, a couple dudes who would be big contributors next season. Not a great sign

Anyone watch the post game presser after our Sunday night loss? I give Mitch credit. He's a pretty savvy PR guy. Turley and Dallas indicated they would run through a wall for their coach and much of their responses to questions focused on next year. I think we will be ok.

I'm really hoping he does well, gets paid a little bit to move somewhere else, but that's not a tremendous loss. Bearing in mind that this news only comes after the post season player/ coach meetings have occurred. Sometimes, you get the news that it's time for you to move on. Sucks if it happens to you, but that's reality. We won't necessarily know who was the one who made the decision that was time to move on. And we're bringing in Kailand Halstead and Ryan Vandenbrink next year at catcher, I like what I see from both of them. We're going to be fine at catcher with Wilson Weber, maybe Easton Talt and those two. I fully expect us to explore the transfer portal for more pitching, so that mitigates the loss of Aiden Jimenez. We knew going into this season we needed to do the same thing and we did, more or less. We're going to be good.

That’s a gopher not a beaver. Take that to the Minnesota board.

Only one year of school left and he won't pitch much next season with a 12-18 month recovery window from TJS.

If you want to take a positive spin on it....maybe Jimenez got told that he's going to start behind Keljo, Segura and Palmer at least going into the fall who are all staying.... we'll see

As it is today, we are overstocked with catchers and Tanner's Portal entry is only the first move on the board.
If Weber returns, we also have the two red-shirt freshman, Gustavson and Marnell Jr. We have three 2024 recruits entering this fall, Vandenbrink, Halstead and Serrano. Serrano has played some at 1B so we might see a position change there. With Smith gone and Serrano moving to 1B, you still have 5 catchers in the fall. I suspect we'll see another move or two prior to fall ball.
The key component in all of this is Weber. Does he return for his Senior year? Does he hit the Portal? Does he sign a pro contract?
FWIW, Wiepert and Scott are coming in '25 and '26. Both are very talented.

Someone had posted a pod cast interview of Aiden Jimenez prior to the season where he essentially bashed on living in Oregon/ Corvallis. And gushed all over SEC ball and southern states. Hated Country music. Loves shoes and rap music. Never felt like he was a fit after hearing that. The way we protect guys, i doubt we would have seen him on the mound next year any way. Good luck, bud.

I hear all SEC sports are second rate overrated and highly overpriced
