It would not hurt college baseball at all to shave a week off the regular season and only play 52 games or keep the season the same length and just play four fewer games. Late in the season these midweek games you need to get 56 are so unnecessary.
Nothing better than a 7-hour busride starting at 5 p.m. on a Monday. Maybe they will throw in a stop at Biggs just to break it up.

Lost amidst all the offense, that was a Huge finish for Hutcheson to come in and plug the leak. Just the kind of outing he needs going into the end of the season.

For the guys really worried about pitching you have to start to adapt for your own peace of mind. No team has an ERA under 3.
Oregon state is the last team with an era below 4. Our 3.97 ERA is #10 in college baseball.
Our 1.31 WHIP is good for 21st and is 20 pts b hind the leader Arkansas at 1.11.
Infact nationally our ERA is our highest ranked stat on either side of the ball, it doesn't look like it but this is top quality pitching in 2024. At the end of the day most of you have it backwards, our offense is fairly mundane nationally and not even top 25 in many stats.

We tend to have masterful pitching performances and then give up a pile of runs the next game. It's not all on pitching. Defense has been bad, which leads to crooked numbers.

Let’s see. They can’t pitch, don’t play defense, bad on the bases and don’t put enough balls in play. Home runs must be the greatest deodorant ever. This team is a regional format has a razor thin margin. Final midweek game: 2006 Portland 20 - Oregon State 13
It is a great thing that I was so busy that I did not have to read the same thing to the infinite power.
The Beavs' hitting will keep Oregon State in most ballgames. The Beavs' pitching and defense (especially the defense) will help make sure that no one is ever that comfortable.Tuesday night at Goss, it went extra innings. I was in the hospital, the day after surgery, and listened to the game and felt even crappier than I already did. I think we had a chance to win in 9 but Casey rested Gundy and somebody blew the save. The game went on and Kunz got lit up. Gundy had saved all three games at Cal the previous weekend. osubeavers.com/sports/baseball/stats/2006/portland/boxscore/16443

Before the ~3 week slump were our offensive stats not up there as well? This offense is capable of being a top unit but it's definitely been a rougher go of it as of late.

What amazingly high standards Beaver baseball has set, which is a GREAT thing, that the team can be 36-12, be coming off a 7 home run win by 7 that has half of its fan base crying in their beer, smfh I too am a little concerned about the pitching, but still fully expecting at least a trip to Omaha

Well at least the offense picked a good game to wake back up! LFG Gav!!! it woke "back up" late Saturday. In the last 19 innings, the Beavers have scored 37 runs.

You did not mention that Oregon State is tied for eighth in shutouts, which is a great thing to point to. In the two most-important offensive statistics, Oregon State is 11th in slugging and 20th in OBP. The ERA number is smoke and mirrors. 21st in WHIP. 63rd in strikeouts/inning. ERA looks to me like it looks good, because the Beavs are giving up a ton of unearned runs. 184th in fielding! Ridiculously bad! The big thing is still winning percentage, though. Oregon State is 12th. Just keep winning. The talent is there, just need to keep putting it together.

The post season isn't going to be WSU or Gonzaga-like. The 4th seed in our regional will be much better.
