Our 2018 NC team got its ass kicked at Utah. I wouldn't be so flippant. Was literally just talking to someone about this. Apparently, they had stolen our signs by studying the '17 Omaha film. I'd imagine signs get changed yearly now.....lots of film available, especially if you make postseason. The other issue was that it was a short week, because of Easter. Abel threw his first start since his awful performance against against Hartford. After getting crushed again, Abel would not pick up another start for another six weeks. On the one hand, it would have been nice for Abel to start the rest of the season and help out the overall record. On the other hand, Abel wound up being very fresh for the Regional and for Omaha. In Game Three, Fehm gave up nine hits in 3.1. Eisert gave up five hits in 2.1. Mully gave up four hits in two innings. Eisert and Fehm's worst games and Mully's second-worst game the entire season (only behind his meltdown against Stanford). The only guy who seemed able to pitch through it was Heimlich. Everyone else got crushed. Now that catchers wear the earpiece, it is much harder to steal signs.

Looks like May not in the lineup again - don’t think this bodes well for him playing anytime soon

Maybe I'm a pessimist, but it kinda feels like every week we're gonna hear "he might be good to go next week.".....until they shut him down

Pac-12 play is here. You Your best healthy starter should pitch on Friday. Your second-best healthy starter should pitch on Saturday. You have Washington next week and then USC is the Easter Series, which moves up all of the pitchers a day. At this point, you have this week and next week to get things right before you have to start over from scratch yet again against USC. Mitchy Slick keeps playing with fire. Hasn't burned him yet, but it is coming.

I’m not too concerned that they are holding off with May this weekend on a colder weekend against a team we should beat regardless of him starting or not. With that being said, if he doesn’t go next weekend against UW, I will start to feel like what flyfish said is pretty much going to happen. It’s been Canham’s MO with pitchers who go down with season ending injury. Basically say it’s “day to day” or “week to week” and then eventually, later on, it’s announced he’s done for the season. I will remain optimistic that isn’t the case this time, and they are just holding out because they can at this point in the season.

Everyone else got crushed. Now that catchers wear the earpiece, it is much harder to steal signs. In thin air breaking/movement pitches become straight pitches. You always hear how hitters get excited when the wind is blowing out, but so do pitchers. Throwing into a wind blowing out means the movement on the pitch will be even more pronounced. Straight pitches are easier to hit regardless if they are stealing signs.
