Cut down on strike outs for Beaver bats. Tighten up with gloves. At least get the pitches close enough to the plate that the hitter has to make a decision. Find a 3rd starter. Watched those great hitting, poor D and poor pitching teams of Murphy and ASU self destruct.
Of course, winning is good.

From what I have gleaned from this board and those posters that "KNOW". Between our batters' strikeout rates AND Our pitchers' propensity for too many free passes (walks and hbp) I am hoping we can salvage 1 win out of the 3 game series.

I agree....we have some fans that argue everything, even when they're wrong. Every fanbase does that. I don't think we are any different. I had to explain to Arkansas fans by me that May was taken out for injury not because of some weird ploy to mess up Arkansas hitters in the middle of an at bat, as they booed and mocked the OSU coached and players during the switch. By the way, the fan refused to accept my response even after I explained why it took so long for the reliever to warm up, because they get as much time as they want if a pitcher is removed for injury. For the most part, I think we have some of the more respectable fans out there. At least towards opposing players. We do tend to let the umps hear it, but that is everywhere in the game. But you have to cut them some slack. That poor fan's dad is also his/her uncle.

Our 2018 NC team got its ass kicked at Utah. I wouldn't be so flippant.

Yea poor execution all around, and poor reaction by our fans. One lady was very loud, and ridiculous. Sometimes it's embarrassing.....I get being passionate, but dont act like an ass. I agree....we have some fans that argue everything, even when they're wrong.so not really too different than this board!

From my memory of playing in SLC. That ballpark was enormous. Need speed in outfield to prevent doubles becoming triples. At 4200 feet, that may lead to more bombs, but is that better than trying to hit 'em where they ain't?

I was with my 11 yo son by an exit waiting to chase fouls, and that play happens. The lady who I referred to proceeded to call out the 3rd base ump by name, and question his qualifications for his job.....like to the point where it was really ridiculous. My son kinda gives me a sideways look, like "what's this ladies deal?". I explained to him that shes a very passionate fan.....maybe a little too passionate.....I then explained to him my interpretation of the play, and why the CSUN kid was safe. I'm sure if you attended the game, you heard her.

I'm sure if you attended the game, you heard her. It all went downhill in 1897 with the ladies-day riot where a bunch of "ladies" accosted the umpire for throwing out their favorite player. Why is it always women that can't control their fandom? *****sarcasm***** Ladies Day riot of 1897

Being a relatively new sports fan in general and an OSU Beaver Sports Fan specifically, it's good that so many on this board have helped me understand this particular OSU Baseball team's spot in the long history of the Team. I'll add the thought of how 2018 transpired in Utah to the other glaring concerns this team has in tempering my potential expectations this weekend. Appreciate the history lesson. Thanks!

I'd imagine signs get changed yearly now.....lots of film available, especially if you make postseason.

I'm sure if you attended the game, you heard her. My son was a bit younger than yours, probably nine when we went to a Southridge/Aloha football game with my dad. The mom of the Southridge qb was about 25-feet away from us. If there was an incomplete pass, she'd yell something like "what kind of a f'ing route was that" directed at the coaching staff. She used the full word. If it was a running play, more "F'ing stupid coaches" and so on. We got up and moved. Anyway the qb was on OSU's c-list - please come, and you will get a chance to earn a scholarship. He took a scholarship to Tulsa and sat on the bench his first four years but started his fifth year and got some Heisman mention when Tulsa started at 8-0 (I think). I've wondered if he would have tried to earn that scholly here if his family was a bit different.

Watched those great hitting, poor D and poor pitching teams of Murphy and ASU self destruct. Of course, winning is good. College baseball is a lot different since Murphy was at ASU. Pitchers stuff is alot better. Strikeouts naturally will go up for hitters with how good the arms are now. Biggest thing in college baseball is you need guys who can change the game with one swing of the bat. LSU, TCU, Tennessee, heck even Oral Roberts had that last year. Strikeouts aren’t that worrying anymore.

Went to a High School football game a few years back. 3-4 students (I assume they were) of the opposing team sat behind us at the start of the game. They proceeded to yell..."BREAK his leg" when our Team's QB scrambled...or dropped back to pass. After the 2nd or 3rd time, I turned around and politely informed them that the QB was our son.(He wasn't, but we hade known and played sports with the kid for about 8 years) Not another peep, and they had moved on by halftime.
Sometimes politely letting people know how incredibly ignorant (or worse) they sound is all that is needed to correct a situation. Sometimes.
