What do you see? Utah is coming in 11-4 with a road series win against a pretty hot WSU team. There OOC was pretty light so not really ready to crown them as a conference contender. Hope we get some of our key players back for the series in Salt Lake.

Hopefully, we won't start off the season like last year. We started 1-5, before ending up 18-12 in conference.
In 2023 we lost 2 out of 3 to the Cougs at Goss to open Pac play, then proceeded to get swept by Stanford on the road in the next series.

The weather looks to be sunny and in the 50s. Smith Ball field is quite a place. Snow cap Rockies creating a prominent view beyond outfield. At an elevation of 4200 feet and only 317 feet to the right field corner our big swinging lefties could have a productive weekend. We are better than they are, but it can be a tricky place to play. They were a miserable lot in 2018 until we came to town. They took the series 2-1. The 7 Ute fans in attendance taunted beaver nation proclaiming "no Omaha for you little rodents this year".....as we left the stadium. Glad they were wrong about that one.

They have 12 total HR and only a couple guys over .300....scrappy on offense but not dynamic....starting pitching, 1 long reliever and closer have all been really good, we need to play clean, keep the ball down pitching and not give away free bases and 2-1 should be a lock at the worst...but mess around with sloppiness and free bases and it could get away on the road. Utah ALWAYS is fiesty for Beavs no matter

I think those are the Wasatches. Part of the Rocky Mountain chain, but not called the Rockies by the locals.

The Wasatch Mountains are the far Western edge of what is normally referred to as the Rocky Mountains. But the primary belt of the Rocky Mountains goes through the Western parts of Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Their 6-7 lefty closer has some of the best stuff I saw out of any pitcher last year at Goss - he just closed 2 games that Utah won at Pulman - both won by 1 run - so would be great in our series to have the lead going into the 8th or 9th this next weekend

Undoubtedly, Utah's best returner from last 2023. Utah has won 11 games on nine different days, i.e. there were two double-headers. Ashman pitched in all eight single-digit wins that were not the second game of a double header. Ashman has allowed three hits, a walk, and an HBP over eight innings. Nine strikeouts.

They reeeeeally laid into the ump. I saw the play close up. Poor positioning by Hainline(I think it was him?) He was clearly too far inside the baseline which allowed the runner to side jump the tag.

He wasn't under control which allowed the runner to take one step and fake him out. I would have been OK with that call either way. They usually give you a step, but more than that and you would get called out.

Sometimes it's embarrassing.....I get being passionate, but dont act like an ass.

I agree....we have some fans that argue everything, even when they're wrong. Every fanbase does that. I don't think we are any different. I had to explain to Arkansas fans by me that May was taken out for injury not because of some weird ploy to mess up Arkansas hitters in the middle of an at bat, as they booed and mocked the OSU coached and players during the switch. By the way, the fan refused to accept my response even after I explained why it took so long for the reliever to warm up, because they get as much time as they want if a pitcher is removed for injury. For the most part, I think we have some of the more respectable fans out there. At least towards opposing players. We do tend to let the umps hear it, but that is everywhere in the game.
