Update on portal transfers that have accepted OSU offers? Uh, the portal opened just 4 days ago, most universities were or are still in session, and most kids will probably want to visit before committing, and there's very little or no news about any schools, even one's with coaching continuity, landing kids this week. Could take a few minutes before we hear much.

It seems that just about every ILB has led or been close to the lead in tackles since the staff came in. A lot of it is scheme. There are young guys like Jordan, and Chisom just off the top of my head. These guys are still going to be better than most of the competition. Julian if healthy, Kane, and Thomas will all be good as replacements as well. The bigger issue is combining these losses with all of the seniors that are leaving this year which makes losing any starter sting more. They will definitely be bringing in plenty of guys to replace or add depth. They’re supposed to host quite a few transfers on visits this weekend so hopefully will start adding some guys and quiet some of the panic around the program. Looking forward to seeing what happens with these visitors; we have an impressive stadium and facilities. Also, wasn't Kane the one who made that great hit in the ucla game (stuffed the ucla receiver knocking the ball out of his hands near the goal line)? It seems like we have pretty good depth.

ESPN said the three most impacted schools (talent drain) by the portal are: 1. Texas A&M 2. Oregon State 3. Vanderbilt

On3 has Chiles as a 100% Michigan State commit. If Smith brought him to Corvallis, I’m not surprised Chiles would follow him.

So how gone are transfer portal athletes? Can they still practice and use facilities? There is an argument to be made for encouraging top players to test the market.

On3 has Chiles as a 100% Michigan State commit. If Smith brought him to Corvallis, I’m not surprised Chiles would follow him. While skimming through social media the other day I saw a post from Aidan's mom, Nikki. Addressing some negative comments about Chiles following Smith/Lindgren to East Lansing, Nikki said that (paraphrasing) people don't know what they are talking about, but if they knew Aidan's story, especially his recruiting story, they would understand his thoughts and actions - and that there is much more than meets the eye. I'm not sure what that means because I didn't dive deep into Aidan's background/recruiting story/personal life. I haven't seen this covered in detail, but Aidan has mentioned on numerous occasions his connection/relationship with Smith/Lindgren. In an October 24 interview with the Oregonian, he said that he came for the team and the coach. "I love Coach Smith, man." He talked about how Coach Smith was there for him as a person, and in general. It is clear there is a close relationship with Smith. Smitty really took Aidan under his wing, for whatever reason. And I'm not saying that in a back-handed kind of way, I haven't read up on Aidan's childhood or much of his background for that to have context one way or the other.
