I would imagine you're right, that the kids will finish out the semester in school here. No adult is going to go out of his or her way to be mean to them. Other kids will, as being mean can be part of being a kid, and nothing can be done about that. Smith certainly knew that would happen, though, and decided his kids could deal with it well enough. Other than the crap his kids are going to take from their peers, however, this situation is no different from, or tougher than, any other family moving from city A to city B for a job. The difference for the Smith kids, however, is that, when they get to school in Michigan, they'll be rock stars, not new kids trying to gain a foothold. So I don't think I'll be too concerned about this move's impact on the other members of the Smith family. That's Smith's job, not mine. The worst they have to look forward to is people asking them what Oragone is like . Until dad starts sucking at his job . Big Ten fans can be brutal and many don't care if they are picking on a kid or wife There is an Oregon, Michigan (and an Oregon, Wisc.). They pronounce it Oragan. So that's how they think our state should be pronounced.

I heard that pronunciation when I lived in New York and I think I have actually heard it pronounced Oragone at least once since I have been back in Oregon

I can't wait to see Smith crash and burn at MSU . I am reminded however that I wanted the same thing for Andersen when he went to Utah State . Unfortunately if my memory is correct he didn't fare that badly but he did bail on them suddenly too and no one has seen him since . Somebody correct me if I am wrong He went 7-9 and was fired after an 0-3 start to year 2.

I know not everyone is a fan, myself included most of the time, but it would appear that Elon took the time to comment on Smith.

I think it was the man boob massage on national television that solidified the job for him in EL. They decided it was better than the prior coach..........never mind

This board right now defines exactly why Coach Smith was right to leave. I think the way JS left defines your persona on this board more than the persona of the board itself. YMMV.

Not to be an old man shaking his fist at the clouds, but if they ever hope to play in the NFL, they'll learn you get up the next day and get ready to go to work. Think the Bills want anything to do with football today after yesterday? Probably not. But they will get up and get to work. And we fans - who pay the bills and cheer for the players - need to look forward to something. Like playing and winning a bowl game and rebuilding a program we supported for decades before the current players showed up and will continue to support for decades after they depart. I understand the players and their families are hurting. So are we. I'm not taking a shot at her or the players, I get it. But life never stops. You have to keep moving forward and a big part of that is planning for the future. And, I'm sorry "mom", don't know your son or others, but most athletes want to get right back at it to ease/help lessen the hurt and move on. Next! That's not only athletics it's life. You overcome adversity not give into it.

No story with the teaser but the Oregonian is saying on Twitter that Smith claims that the Pac 12 collapse was not a factor in his leaving OSU . So what was ?
