Or even more foolishly, just make crap up! Irrelevance... complete utter BS. OSU & WSU in the MWC and winning 10+ games each season makes the MWC more than relevant. OSU can add a solid NC schedule and be near or in the top 12 consistently. And, your weak analogy proves your thought process. The "ugliest" is no conference affiliation at all. Couple that with your Boise assessment... take a look at the comparative W/L records and national esteem of their program and ours over the last 5-10 years. Then make up some more BS. And, "fully expect" to beat UW? OSU will prob be double digit dogs at home by then. Other than that, keep making stuff up. At least you think it's factual. You are a fully realized and sentient board Karen, what an absolute boor of a human you are. It is tough to consider that we root for some of the same things, go to a f'ing party and try meet some people dude. It is funny how we are at once supposed to be realistic about our immediate future, but unduly optimistic about what that will look like once we are there. Again, you are convinced that the world operates in a vacuum and that a team in Corvallis will necessarily be a better draw than a team in Boise (or Fresno, or San Diego or Ft Collins). Yes, I fully expect to beat Washington at home, the fact that right now you don't tells me everything. I believe where we are right now is better than anywhere BS has been in a decade. Where we are right now proves that we can ascend to levels that allow us for occasional big picture optimism. You want small time, you'll probably get it so be excited for that. Also, how do people 'make up' opinions? You call your previous post "rooting" There's the difference right there... WTF are you writing... vacuum? Better draw?? But, taking your own posts how ironic... an OSU team is such a piss ant/ugly league will not be a better draw? And, earlier OSU will have to stop dreaming big? So, this great position you see us in can't continue in the MWC? No way, OSU can't finish in the Top 8-12... EVER? But, of course they could in the B12?? Hmmmm... Hmmm... where is OSU right now? One 10 win season, 2 winning seasons in a row, 2 minor bowls (1-1, losing to a MWC team, right?), and no conference affiliation. BSU over the last decade... (7) bowls including a Fiesta (4-3), 10 winning seasons, (6) 10+ win seasons. That is a decade OSU hope to achieve and is no close, as of right now. Small time is posting BS about what will not happen. OSU is not going to be a member of a current P4 conference. PERIOD. Seeing the positives about the actual options moving forward is being positive. The rest is the "Karen" effect. I fully expect UW to be the toughest home game this year and maybe is recent years. As far a "dog", that is basically set by the media and sports betting who are IN LOVE with Pennix. The best part of playing UW... the gauntlet they play before OSU... sc , vs Utah, then @ Reser 3 straight weekends. So, my expectations will be fluid as a highly competitive season moves on. PS- opinions are stated with precursors such as "I think...", not "... will have to stop dreaming big... will become irrelevant."

If you need someone to telegraph the fact that some opinions are on the way, that is something you may need to work on. Part of our appeal and what separates us from the schools I mentioned is our conference affiliation, that goes away what is left? I have already read somewhere that Chiles will transfer out if/when we end up in MW (he likely won't be alone). The point being, why would a school in Corvallis necessarily maintain its recruiting and coaching superiority (which includes higher revenue) once we are on 'equal' footing?

I've made my hope (such as it may be) for the Beavers to land in the Big 12 pretty obvious. But I don't believe for a minute that vast majority of the athletes at OSU want to play in the MWC from a competitive standpoint. They want to play in a power conference. Period. Right now it would be a huge step down for football. Not to mention baseball and probably even women's basketball. It's practically a no go for wrestling and gymnastics. MWC has one advantage for OSU and WSU and that's travel. But if the Big Ten came calling today, my bet would be both schools would sign up in a second. The longer it takes to get any real information, the better, IMO. To me, it means that Barnes, etc., do have very legitimate reasons to believe OSU and WSU will be getting assets that could be used as leverage in several different scenarios. Bottom line is I don't believe that OSU and WSU joining with the entire MWC is the priority. Nor should it be.

I don’t know where you saw it but anything you saw about Chiles leaving has to be pure speculation at this point.

OSU's appeal is OSU and our coaching staff. That is not going away, and the rest (btw... Chiles' family LOVES OSU and JS) is again complete BS speculation of the so called "Karen" crowd. Why borrow worry if you are so enamored with where OSU is now? OSU will have a much higher recruiting profile in the MWC, and our staff will be the best in the conference. OSU basically recruits at the top of the MWC and and at near the bottom of the Pac12. No one knows what the revenue will be.... media, Pac12 assets, etc. But, OSU has a much higher donation level, ticket sales, etc potential than any MWC team. And, that will improve once MBB and WBB get back on their feet. OSU will have prob the best if not top 3 in facilities that again will continue to draw players. I will share a factual conversations. We spent the entire 2nd half on the "patio" side watching the game and were quickly engaged by several families of players. The conversations touched on realignment and all the families were extremely happy with OSU. Pac12 or not, none would have their sons leave. Kitan's father was the most adamant about how solid this team is and their love for the program. A truly great bunch of people and made our 2nd half standing above the team one of the more enjoyable halves of football I've experienced. Of course, huge NIL $ could change some player's views, but that would happen Pac12 or not. I root for OSU... and will continue to see the positive in all options. And, dismiss those that "think" they know that all these terrible things will befall our program.

And here's a scenario for all the OSU football fans here: OSU goes to the MWC. DJU heads to the NFL (as expected). Aiden Chiles transfers because he doesn't want to play in the MWC. Damien Martinez transfers. Joshua Gray (RJr.) goes to the NFL. Taliese Fuaga transfers or goes to the NFL. Jack Velling transfers. And others once the dam breaks. You are already losing seniors Ryan Cooper, Deshaun Fenwick, Heneli Bloomfield, Calvin Hart, Jaden Robinson, John McCartan, Alton Julian, Andrew Chatfield, Jesiah Irish, Kitan Oladapo, James Rawls, Jake Levengood, Joe Golden and Isaac Hodgins. Marco Brewer was going into his redshirt senior season before injury, so his status is up in the air. Smith is already facing a lot of recruiting work. If even half of the NFL/transfers happen, it's going to be really difficult to field a team that is capable of winning the MWC. Worst case? Yeah. But not crazy talk, especially in this era.

OSU gets screwed of course, but get a NY's game.

Speaking of foolishly optimistic... What if Apple came up with an offer to the original Pac12 that was too good to be ignored. One that gives all the concessions to the run-way models that they think they deserve, and is better than what anyone is being offered now. Could this all just be considered posturing for leverage, and everyone be brought back to the table? Is it too late for a Hail Mary? Foreman says those teams are going, boy, and they ain't coming back.

But right now you have several guys poised to step in and if Gray and Fuaga were to stay, it would be in pretty good shape for another season at least. But I believe that a step down to the MWC will hasten decisions to head to the NFL as well as losing more through transfers. It's almost guaranteed to happen. Another big question is how many juniors bail or stick it out.

When I talk about things not happening in a vacuum, what I am saying is that all of the things you say about our staff are absolutely true, I just don't know that it is certain we can retain people like that if we have to slash our budget given revenue constraints. I sincerely hope your predictions are true if the seemingly inevitable comes to pass. If we can keep the staff and are able to schedule at least two reasonable OOC games, then I think we can stabilize for a few years. No one doubts the sincere connections that are made between JS and his staff and his team and their families.

They're not going around saying it would be fine if they started playing in the Big Sky or something. They know what it's like to play in the Pac-12. They know that the MWC is not the same.

Regardless of what happens, and there are so many possibilities, I wish people would stop using BSU as an example to hold up (I posted this previously, apologies for the re-post).
Here is their record from 2014, the year the CFB playoffs started, to 2022:
2014-2022 12-2 9-4 10-3 11-3 10-3 12-2 5-2 (Covid) 7-5 10-4
For all of that, their highest CFB Final rank was 19, with a 20 and two 25's. Their PERCEIVED strength of schedule will never be enough to win over the committee. And now they are in the era of NIL and transfer portals.
Could we do better? Sure. If we win at least 10 this year and next year we do the same, presuming our opponents are of decent quality, then maybe we get some household recognition. Our coaches are great, but they aren't going to stick around forever at low pay, and if we're winning 10 again, people are going to try and poach them. Doesn't mean we can't find cheaper coaches who are as good, but I'd rather keep the known quantity. Unless we have a chunk of spare change to get us through lean years, we're going to lose coaches and then maybe the players aren't as enamored with the program, who knows?
At the opposite end of the spectrum, maybe we're like Gonzaga, but with football, where we're on the outside of the "system" but always seemingly in the mix. I actually feel like we'd have a better shot at becoming a really good basketball and baseball program if we took our seemingly sparse dollars and invested it in those teams. You only have to pay off 12.

I forgot to mention OSU's very good men's soccer program. I guess it's the WCC for them. Oh well.
