Believe it or not, I really understand where you guys are coming from. What O***** did to you is what Utah did to us 60 years ago. Some of us still haven't gotten over it.
But trust me, you'll get over it. The MWC is not the dumpster fire you think it is. It looks like SMU will go to the ACC with, uh, those other guys. Add that to the departure of Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF, and the AAC has dropped significantly, leaving the MWC as the strongest G5, excuse me, G7 conference. Now, would you rather be a serious contender in the strongest G8 conference, with a serious shot at a New Years Day bowl, or maybe even a place in the play-offs, or would you rather be Northwestern? They're in a P2 conference! Yay! They went 1-11 last year. And it's never going to get much better for them.
And like I keep saying, everyone in the MWC will be thrilled to have you. You fit our footprint and profile. You'll make us stronger.
So, you can cry in your cornflakes, or you can pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off, and get back in the game. I know what winners would do...

No disrespect. But when you say " you'll make us stronger", in turn I believe going to the MWC will make us weaker. We rarely do get 4 star recruits but those days will be done, knocking off top ten teams bye bye. The drop in revenue including tv, tickets, and donations will require severe budget cuts. More than likely our football coaching staff would be looking for greener pastures. Going to the MWC may be required but it's not a destination any of us want.

Yes. Hole's successes or failures in the top league of college ball will garnish much more attention than ours. The fact that OSU, Cal, WSU, and Stanford can't get in shows that it is an exclusive league. Therefore, their games will be seen as premier games, and wherever we land will not.
If this happens, I'm done, except to root against the whole system, hoping for a massive failure. And for some smarter people to take over.
Garner, not garnish. Although there’s nothing wrong with some garnish (unless it’s your wages). Pre coffee post. Life goes on. With or without garnering garnish.

I know what winners would do... I'm gonna cry in my cornflakes a bit longer, and here's why... We went thru Ando pants.....to the depths of college football hell! We got our GUY now! We are a legit top 25 football program who can compete at the highest level, RIGHT NOW!......and the f%#*ing rug gets pulled out from under us?! I'm not done being pissed! And it's not so much what the ducks did.....it's the machine that is college football. The TV execs are deciding who's in and who's out. f%#* them!!! At some point if/when we are part of the MW, or whatever it will be called, I will embrace it the best I can......some of us need more time though.

It's going to hurt, but on a positive, Boise St. has gotten as many or more 4 star recruits as we have. It can still be done. Keeping the staff is my main concern.

As has been noted, Boise State and San Diego State probably get as many or more 4 star recruits as OSU. Consistently win MWC championships, and the good players will come. How many 4 star recruits do you think Northwestern and Kansas are getting? Take the hand you've been delt, play it well, and you'll be fine.

OSU and BSU/SDSU are not on equal recruiting footing. There is no way a DJ Uiagalelei comes to Oregon State if they are part of the MWC.

Pretty sure Howard was Smith's FIRST four star commit in the time he's been here. Chiles was upgraded after the commit, I'm thinking Collins was a zero star commit (now a 3 but he could end up being a steal at that rating) People put too much emphasis into star ratings, and Jonathan has proven he can build without "4 star" recruits. I'm not going to overly freaked out by the possibility of dropping to G5 as long as there's a roadpath to the playoffs. If an Autonomous 4 happens, they should up the playoffs to 16 teams and no byes. It'd still be 3 weekends of games.

Another thing, I think there will be some actual highly ranked recruits on the west coast who, either themselves or their family, prefer not to travel 2-3 timezones on a regular basis.
The Pac Whatever won't be completely void of good players.

There are going to be a couple but if you're looking to make it to the NFL, you aren't settling for a G5 conference just so you don't have to travel 2 time zones on 4 weekends a year.

I'm not so sure there won't be a western half based power conference in the future. The momentum looks thay way, but momentum changes.

Any kid thinking a conference is the path to the NFL isn't someone that fits OSU's culture anyway. Plus, the one positive of the portal is players like DJU "grow up" and find that brand doesn't always equal fit. OSU will recruit just fine.

Not an all-inclusive statement, but a fair one. Even the ones who do fit OSU's culture.

We have made it to this unique spot in our history where we enter a season ranked, get a highly touted transfer QB, and have fans dreaming of a play for the national championship. The buzz around the program is real and it is exciting. We’re seeing better recruits and less fall off between first and second string. Another ten plus win season and we’ll be in good shape to bring in more and more top players. Moving to the MWC, I think, means that we will have traditional Beaver types of players. They’ll be “just fine” and some will probably work hard and be stars, but I doubt that we’d ever reach our former brothers (USC, UW…) in terms of recruits and/or wins. But we’ll be fine. Sure. Just not a national force.
