But it doesn't even have to be Chiles to be painful. In fact, we might be able to survive without him. But lose an O-line starter and we might be hurting. Drop a defender and we're in trouble. We don't have the depth to lose players. That's all true. Which points to the fact OSU is far from "there" right now. It's an up & coming program, but there was zero guarantees that a revived Pac12 conference assured a steady climb to being a consistent power. The recruiting, and development has already shown up. This team can withstand injuries, and a player getting poached here, and there.......after this season, all bets are off. Our program caught the attention of the rest of the country, and now we don't have a clear future.......that screams vultures circling. What we need is a merged MW/pac4, and a big influx of cash. We keep things rollin and become the dominant team in the premier conference in the western US.

I'd probably hit every current MWC member stadium for a Beaver game if they were part of our conference. Fresno maybe just once unless it's on the way to somewhere else. Someone earlier in one thread said they'd prefer to visit Washington than BSU, I wouldn't unless it were late fall and the weather was super crappy. I've been to Boise earlier in the fall and really enjoyed it. I'm thinking on the whole I'd enjoy visiting the MWC cities more than the larger cities in the current PAC. Boise is great. It's grown a bit too much for my liking, but a fun town to visit. If you're into the outdoors, there's lots of cool s%#t around.

One of the most fun games I’ve been to was in college against Wyoming in 83 or so? Kicked their ass 41-14 in the pouring rain. We sat in the student section for a good hour after the win getting soaked finishing off our Bota Bag cache. Good times!

I would be very surprised if OSU got invited and a little surprised if they left w/o WSU. I have read that... - OSU is preferred over WSU because OSU is willing to take a smaller payout than WSU (see: accumulated debt). - There are at best two slots left in the Big12, but other people say the money isn't there, so don't expect anything. - There are two slots, but they are being reserved for UConn and Gonzaga (and now maybe SDSU, as they do more than basketball). - There are not two slots, but if there were two slots, they would be saved until the ACC is dissolved, which could be sooner than later. If I were OSU, I would have "preliminary talks" as well with the Big12 to see what they're offering. My guess is we'd get $15 million and then pray heavily that the state legislator tacks on a $5 million fee to UofO, see: Cal/UCLA. But I have little hope they'll do the right thing. At the same time, I'd tell whomever becomes PAC-4 commissioner to see what remaining media deals are out there if we absorb 6 additional schools from someplace and start over. I'm really not a big fan of leaving WSU all alone. And who knows what happens to Stanford/Cal. The two slots is for Power 5 conference teams to get a share of new revenue from ESPN. G5 teams will have to dilude the $31.7M per team. So basically, 1 G5 team would equal $1M less per member for each new G5 member to get $16M each. Doubt anyone in the Big XII would agree to that even if it's Gonzaga, UConn, and/or SDSU.

Since the topic of OSU and/or SDSU potentially going to the Big 12 appears dead for the moment, best to kill or lock this thread.

Lock it, maybe. Kill it? No way. No reason to. I don't really see a strong reason to lock it, either.
