What is best guess on who signs/who doesn't?
Brown and Kane seem low enough picks that it wouldn't surprise if they returned. Forrester seems less likely to return, but Pittsburgh is a notoriously cheap organization.
How about the high schoolers?

Forrester seems less likely to return, but Pittsburgh is a notoriously cheap organization. How about the high schoolers? At most, one of the drafted guys will not sign. Laif Palmer, that's the only one where I could see him betting on himself to improve that draft stock into day one territory down the road. Well, theoretically Paul Wilson if he fails his physical.
But I think we can expect those guys, plus several undrafted free agents to start their professional career.
Best of luck to 'em!

Forrester seems less likely to return, but Pittsburgh is a notoriously cheap organization. How about the high schoolers? Brown is a fourth-year redshirt sophomore. He participated in Senior Day. I believe that he is gone, if the money is there. Mikey Kane is a JuCo transfer from the College of the Canyons. I cannot figure out, if he was a three or four to play three. Kane is young. I am not sure what his deal is. He was a shortstop at the College of the Canyons and may be angling to play shortstop, rather than third. He also has a ton of ties to Southern California. College of the Canyons is in Santa Clarita. He was born from Woodland Hills and graduated from St. Francis in La Cañada Flintridge. His brother plays for UCSD. His coming up here in the first place is somewhat odd. He has been a great Beaver, no complaints. But he may be trying to get out of Corvallis after a pretty cold and wet year.

I don’t think Mikey is exactly “young” for a college baseball player. MLB draft tracker says today is his 22nd birthday!

Brown should come back and try his hand at being a starter.

Kane graduated from St. Francis High School in 2020. He enrolled at College Of The Canyons that fall but Canyons cancelled their 2021 season during the Covid Pandemic. He played for COC in 2022, then Oregon State in 2023. He has 2 years of eligibility left. He's a 17th round pick by the White Sox which is a little late for a promising college player. Any bonus money would be uncertain and he might be looking at the Complex League or Low A for certain. Those circumstances might suggest a return to improve his stock for the '24 draft (especially if he can move from 3B to SS), alternatively if he's anxious to get on with a pro career, he will sign.
Ryan Brown was drafted out of South Salem HS in 2019 - he's better prepared this time and I think he will sign. He has some leverage, he has a year of eligibility left.
Forrester may not receive full slot but he won't be short by very much. He has leverage and the Pirates sure in the hell aren't about to lose their 4th pick in the draft.
Lais is a mystery at this point. How bad does he want to pay pro ball and how much does he recognize the opportunity that awaits him in Corvallis. I'll say school!
Cake - Palmer wanted school and wasn't drafted.
Let's watch for UDFA signings now - McDowell, Lattery, Sellers, Kasper, etc.

Still could come to school, but.. was drafted. But agreed, our college draftees are gonna be gone, lots of free agent signings to come off the current roster. Exciting stuff with what we bring in and kept though.

Sorry, I missed the 20th round. Palmer was indeed drafted as Cake mentioned. I need to stay away from any draft threads - my brain freezes. Too much excitement and drama.

I keep getting "Lais" and "Laif" confused. With Dane Lais expressing his desire to sign following his selection, and Wilson 'gone'... ...it appears that James DeCremer, Eric Segura, and Laif Palmer (if he doesn't sign) are the most likely candidates to be the traditional Beaver Impact Freshman Pitcher in 2024.

Don’t sleep on Bryce Johnson and Spencer Green. Green went in the 19th round to the Dodgers, but I think he’ll come to school. This freshman pitching class is loaded with talent. We have 7 pitchers inside PG’s top 500. That includes Wilson who is assuredly going to sign, but that leaves us with 6 guys in the top 500 unless Palmer or Green sign. For reference, Dane Lais was outside PG’s top 500.
