Alberstons groceries is now owned by Safeway? Are the original owners big Boise state fans? Don't really know the history, just asking? There are ties there somewhere. Albertsons was started in Idaho. The Albertsons also paid millions to change the name of the College of Idaho to Albertsons college for about 20 years before the name reverted back. The family asked that the name be changed back to C of I. Not out of a dispute or anything.

Any doctor who leaves Idaho won't be relocating to San Fran, LA, Seattle or PDX. And we all know why. Oh really? Where’s your backing of your statement of fact?

It's sad that insecure people have to slur the state of Idaho and the people who live there. Quoting an article from a news outlet (Idaho Capital Sun) that is more political publication than objective journalism only proves the point. Any doctor who leaves Idaho won't be relocating to San Fran, LA, Seattle or PDX. And we all know why. For the 2 experts here, how many doctors have left Idaho, and how many rushed in to replace them? You don't know. Who has “slurred” the State of Idaho and the people who live there?

The stadium already exists. All they're talking about 32 million to bowl in an endzone and add about 3500 additional seats (mainly premium), the result of which will look more like a football stadium that what we will have. You don't think they can handle 32 million? Alberstons groceries is now owned by Safeway? Are the original Albertsons owners big Boise state fans? Don't really know the history of their donors, just asking? There are ties there somewhere.
It seems like there needs to be a mind set change of what we can do at OSU instead of what we can't do. I don't think that can do attitude is fully embraced.
And what does a lease/gift agreement do to the tsdtr indoor project?
All voted on by state officials and apparently legit but it must save in costs for large projects and by what amount?
Build things and return as a gift..... what? Take projects more private? I don't know.
From Oregonlive.....
......The finance and facilities committee of UO’s board of trustees approved a proposal to lease or license portions of the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex as well as property to be acquired from the city of Eugene to Phit Too, LLC, an entity of the University of Oregon Foundation, which will manage construction of the new 170,000-square-foot facility and then return it to the university as a gift. The full board will vote on the proposal during its meeting on Tuesday......
We do that as well. It helps streamlines construction because the process is overseen by the contractor, not the state.

We do that as well. It helps streamlines construction because the process is overseen by the contractor, not the state. "Oversight" by the low-bid contractor can be problematic. Just sayin'.

We do that as well. It helps streamlines construction because the process is overseen by the contractor, not the state. "Oversight" by the low-bid contractor can be problematic. Just sayin'. Where to start? In the first place, these types of jobs are rarely low bid. Even when it’s funded directly with public money there are ways to basically hand pick the desired contractor. Many times there’s a RFP to the big builders that is broken down into a scoring matrix, with percentages given to different areas, yes cost being one of them. But its weighting can be lower, maybe only 30%. Then they make the approach to the job, past experience, etc have higher weighting. Those subjective things that are hard to question. They also look into other areas that the owner’s contractor of choice has an advantage over the other players in like maybe safety, and will list that with a higher weighting as well. Of course if it’s private money they can just hire the contractor they want without going through the whole process. Either way, they weed out who they don’t want. Now, let’s take your statement about the low bidder having oversight. It doesn’t happen. If it is a competitive (low) bid it’s not like the owner says ok, here’s your contract. Let me know when it’s done! The owner has representatives. A Construction Manager, inspectors, a geotechnical engineer, and oh yeah-specifications. The low bidder can’t just run amok and do things their own way. They are bound by quality standards and that work is verified by the owner’s representatives.

Hoffman seems to get most of the job at OSU, and it appears they do a good job. They get a lot of jobs at Oregon, too.

This source has conflicting data: www.forbes.com/home-improvement/features/states-move-to-from/Source: USPS, not United Van Lines. More current too and from Forbes vs Kezi. Check the rankings for red vs blue states and draw your own conclusions. With all the move-ins and that additional tax-base perhaps OSU could fund a new women studies department with research dedicated to the elusive question “what is a woman” before hole beats us to it. Higher education needs to tackle this perplexing dilemma. Take a few decades and tens of millions of dollars and “follow the science.”

As the Glove says: ’Oh really? Where’s your backing of your statement of fact?’ Always strange when ‘fans’ on OSU boards slur construction contractors. I would guess the majority of construction contractors in the state of Oregon are OSU grads. Go after the architects, they’re probably ducks.
