That's magnanimous of the SEC to allow a few other teams enter their post-conference tournament.

Put us in with a middle seed, 5-12. Keep us away from the top seeds until Omaha.

Half SEC….shocker. It is a shocker inasmuch as it sets a record. Eight SEC Regional hosts. First time ever. And God willing, last time ever. What a complete joke! They need to find something better than RPI. The SEC is continuing to be rewarded for rank bureaucratic inertia.

Both Alabama and Kentucky getting a Regional is a joke. There is no way that those two are more deserving than every other team out there.
Oregon State would host, if there was a more accurate way to measure team success on the season.
RPI is just awful.

Judging by the sites, we had to know before the Pac-12 tournament we weren't going to get a regional. Nobody who is hosting got a big enough boost from their conference tournament to move them from not hosting to hosting.

Just watch, they'll set up the bracket to where none of the SEC teams who are hosting will face one another until Omaha. Of course, there will be some SEC teams who must travel to an ACC site, setting up a few Super Regionals to be all-SEC.

Doesn't espn carry the world series? Doesn't espn have a big contract with the sec? Doesn't it all make sense why 8 hosts?

Judging by the sites, we had to know before the Pac-12 tournament we weren't going to get a regional. Nobody who is hosting got a big enough boost from their conference tournament to move them from not hosting to hosting. OSU was not even close to hosting, regardless of that happened in Scottsdale, given the criteria the committee used. I read somewhere that 15 of the top 16 RPI teams were selected. RPI #19 was the 'outlier'. Beavs had little (no?) chance to move up that much in the RPI, even with PAC-12 Tourney success. The good news: the selections give me a 'rooting against' interest in half of the Regionals that begin Friday, June 2.

This has a 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament feel to it. That was the first year that the SEC got seven host spots. Despite seven host spots, only one SEC team made it to Omaha, #1 overall Florida, and that one team went 2&Q.
The #2 team in the Pac-12, Arizona, came out of the losers' bracket of the Lafayette Regional and then won the Starkville Super Regional to get to Omaha. There, Arizona was a game away from winning a National Championship but lost two straight games by a run.
