Except it's the Pac 12 tournament. Facing the hard facts, we aren't built for a deep run in the postseason. Offensively and defensively, we have our ups and downs, but we're lacking the ice in our veins to dominate the opponent and put them away. We're going to need a fair amount of good fortune to make it through to Omaha. So how does this Pac 12 tournament serve us? What does it do for us? Any other day, I agree 100% with the "win the game in front of you" philosophy. Not today. Winning today would be nice, but losing today won't really matter much. Hosting has been in doubt since the crazy start of Pac 12 play. Well we surely won't host if we lose today.....if we win, and then maybe we keep winning....we have a good shot at hosting......OR maybe the coaching staff already knows we aren't hosting no matter what. I kind of disagree that we aren't built for a deep run. We have the hitting, D, and back end pitching......just can't get lit up like we have against ARZ schools. When your top 3 batters don't produce in a crucial game, we have a problem. Luckily, yesterday everyone else was hitting, except Dernedde. Hitting has its ups and downs. Pitching has its ups and downs. And we have a lot of young kids in all roles. We'll see. At times the Beavs are amazing. Other times, they look kind of ordinary. |

I don't have half of the information that the coaches have. But personally, I don't mind this decision. If the Beavs win, then we might as well keep winning, in which case we will need our best pitchers. If we lose today, it's not much of a problem. We know we are playing in a regional and while playing at home is better than traveling, we haven't been really strong enough to warrant a hosting situation. So it might be better to simply aim to rest up a bit for the regionals, which really matter. That's my take. With the limited amount of knowledge I have. Since you, also, don't have much information, why not assume that the coach is making the best decisions? |

Stoopid, stoppid....start the first two games in a huge tournament without using either of your Fri-Sat starters.
And these guys are making six-figure salaries to manage this team???
