I just think the true point guards like I saw in my youth, the pass first guards are now more combo guards. Would you call McWilliams, pivec,Goodman,Weise or Weisner a true point guard? I just think you can win with two combo guards. I know some think Scott doesn't value point guards. Scott learned basketball under Ralph Miller and his staff. I don't remember osu having many, what I would call pass first guards...Blume,Radford,Connor,Rocky Smith,Gary Payton, etc. They could all score and distribute... I think osu needs to first and foremost retain TVO,Beers,Gardner,Blacklock, and Hansforth adding the two in state frosh who I think can be solid role players. Just my opinionYour opinions are well thought out and it's nice to have back and forth conversations about osu WBB , Scott learned basketball under Ralph Miller? I don’t think so. Scott learned basketball from his father who was a longtime HS basketball coach. Rueck is Ralph Miller’s illegitimate son??

A tired and inaccurate statement. Yet popular here on Benny’s House. Yes, anyone who says that about Gill just proves they haven't been there in at least five years.

Gill may be a barn, but it's our barn. It is a great environment to watch your favorite teams. The fans are on top of the action, something sorely missing with the generic arena. Announcers love to call games there and opposing coaches know it is a tough place to play. For new and modern there is the practice facilities.

All 5 Beaver freshmen are watching what's next. I would take that as a very positive sign, in all directions.

I was there. It was great to see Shuler's athleticism, though it was a low-scoring game. Hunter was terrific and dominant. She looks ready to play next year.
Best of all was seeing Coach Rueck in the stands with the five Beaver freshmen from this year. They looked like they were having a great time.

I was in there for the MBB game versus ASU. It has had some improvements in the entryway and the new lighting/videoboard. The MBB locker room and women's locker room has been redone lately too. That being said,it could still use an overhaul in the lower bowl. In today's climate, fans want amenities and some will pay for it. Gill Coliseum doesn't have the appeal to an 18 year old that it does to the long term fans like myself who have great memories of it being packed and loud. It looks like it needs attention...the practice facility is top notch tho.

The players care more about the locker room, practice facility, etc., then they do about the actually arena.

Unless the player intends to order a hot dog and a beer from the bench, he/she doesn't care.

Real hoopers love Gill. It's a player's gym. Real fans love it too! Real fans in wheelchairs do not. The University commissioned a study in 2015 to assess Gill's compliance with the ADA. The 703 page report identified 1,376 violations of the ADA and recommended $5.6 million in modifications to the facility. When compared to what has been spent on Reser over the last 20 years, $5.6 million is a drop in the bucket.

That was very clearly enumerated in the establishing legislation. New buildings must be constructed fully compliant with ADA requirements. Existing buildings do not.

That was very clearly enumerated in the establishing legislation. New buildings must be constructed fully compliant with ADA requirements. Existing buildings do not. Um, no, that's incorrect. The implementing regulations, effective in 1992, called for specific actions of covered entities -- which the University is one -- to conducts an assessment of facilities, practices, standards, and procedures to determine the extent to which they complied or did not comply with the ADA AND develop a plan to transition [transition plan] the university to compliance. This was to have been accomplished by 1995. Everything "readily achievable" was to be completed immediately; big ticket items such as facility renovations could be programmed over several years if financially necessary. Take a step back and Section 504, signed into law in 1977, required that very study an planning for all programs receiving federal funds. As a land grant university, the entire University was considered to have received federal funds [especially having received Pell Grant, student loan, work study funds, etc. which it disbursed to students]. AS of 2011 the University was opening classroom buildings that violated the ADA. How? Because every RFP issued to hire architects and builders required compliance with the Oregon Structural Specialty Code -- which did not, at that time, comply with the ADA Standards -- not the ADA. This led to the allocation of more than a million dollars to retrofit Hallie Ford less than a year after it was opened.

But I takes planning.
