TVO is hopping on one foot, but I’m more concerned about Timea G. and only getting 7 minutes. That's especially concerning considering that they burned her redshirt to play less than half the season. What's the point if she's just going to ride the pine??? At this point she should just sit because she's hardly playing anyway, and I believe she can retain a year of eligibility still. I have no idea what Rueck is thinking on this one. His rotations and who is getting PT right now seems to be completely illogical. Basically forced to play the freshman guards against USC, and what do you know??? they look like they can play. At least a hell of lot more effectively than our previous walk on player who should really just be nice story, but is playing major minutes instead of our young talent. Even after the post season is lost, our young players are still spectators. WHY? If Gardiner is looking elsewhere at the end of this season, would anyone blame her? She is way over red shirt time.

I thought AJ played well in the USC game. AJ is a bit of a swiss army knife. She is fully capable of helping bring the ball from back court to front court. But overall, AJ was very important in the game offensively, and defensively. Having AJ and Lily on the perimeter made it difficult for USC guards to shoot over the top. AJ at 6'1" and Lily at 6'2" each with very long arms, even USC posts players that go to the perimeter were effectively challenged.
I saw again where on the out-of-bounds play at end of game, we had Bendu (our shortest player on the court) try to pass over the top. Fortunately, ball was batted out of bounds, and then coach adjusted and had Lily inbound from the sideline. At 6'2", Lily was easily able to get the ball to an open player. I remember in a previous game when coach had Mannen inbound with a few seconds left and ball was deflected due to her inability to throw over the top.
Lots of good in this game. Lily got lots of minutes and performed very well. AJ got lots of minutes and showed her flexibility. A certain junior wasn't taking minutes from other players. Other than Timea not seeing many minutes, it was refreshing to see our younger players getting significant minutes.

Gardiner.....Still qualifies for a "medical redshirt" but....if I understand the rule correctly, won't if she plays anymore games this year.

Did Gardiner even play in the OT where we didn't get a single FG?

Gardiner.....Still qualifies for a "medical redshirt" but....if I understand the rule correctly, won't if she plays anymore games this year. A medical redshirt can only be granted for a season ending injury that occurs and the player participates in less than 30% of the games. Her injury was not season ending since she is playing now, so she would not be eligible.

I think his decisions re: Gardiner and the rotation in general is mostly based on how he sees the players on defense. I think Rueck tends to play those he trusts to adhere to/understand his defensive schemes. He's also looking for combinations that seem to work well together. I do think he's trying to balance that with making sure there's some offensive firepower on the court as well, but he tends to emphasize defensive play. I'm not saying it's necessarily the best way to go about it, just why it seems illogical at times. I would think that after 14 games into the PAC12 season he would have much of that worked out by now. Still a work in progress. You would think so. Gardiner is obviously behind as far as time on the court. The rest of the roster has been inconsistent with the exception of Beers and maybe Mit. Is it the chicken or the egg? Hard to say for sure.

The problem with the team appears to be scoring. Gardiner can make shots anywhere on the floor. Play her and work on the defense as the game and season goes. If rueck is not playing her because of defense that is truly illogical. Especially when there are players with little offensive capabilities that are not playing good defense playing significant minutes. All of which has been said by others smarter than you. Have you ever had an original thought to go with "Fire Tinkle!" and "Reuck is incompetent!" ?

Other than Timea not seeing many minutes, it was refreshing to see our younger players getting significant minutes. Marotte has that nice jump shot from 10-15 ft straight in to the hoop from just inside the free throw line. She has some elevation on her shot and fades back too, so it’s hard to block. Mostly she’s taking the defender into the key off the dribble. She gets a good look most every time. She converts a high percentage of those, I’d bet 60% or more. I’d run a play… Her 3 pt shot needs work. I bet she replayed that very wide open 3 at the end of regulation more than a few times. Maybe she was startled she was so open, idk. This team just needs someone to wield the dagger on those opportunities. Just out of curiosity I looked back at stats for the ‘17-18 team (the EE team) and the Beavs had 3 players shooting >40% on 3’s that year. It’s a significant piece to the offense that is missing this year, as we watch defenses sag and pack the paint.

I must get under your skin so I'm just going to keep making comments. Have a nice day. And I have never said rueck is incompetent, Passive aggressively -- yes you did. You won't put it in just those terms. Like a mouse you nibble around the edges. You point out the Pac 12 finish of the WBB team and suggest there is a problem with his coaching. You point to all of the girls transferring out. The subtext is he can't keep them happy or he doesn't use them well. Of course, this is "spoken" without considering relevant context. Get "under my skin?" That's what parasites and fungal worms do. You should change your moniker from Speakthetruth to speakstupids%%t
