A quick question before I head off for sleep tonight; why, after we take a shot, does everyone turn and run to the opponents end of the court? I have not seen any other PAC12 team do that. Aren’t we supposed to try to secure an offensive rebound? Any insights explaining this phenomenon will be most appreciated. I think this might be a clue or symptom of something, but I’m not sure what it might be. This is still not a settled team with the defense all figured out. They are running back to stop the easy transition buckets. If Rueck can get some players to stick around until next season and get the defense more confident in what they are to do he can afford to allow more players to stick around for the offensive rebound. Beers hangs around for the offensive rebound sometimes because she knows where to go on defense and has the speed relative to other posts to get back.

Yes, I am aware. I just added some grad transfers because the timeline I used was 2020-21 to now. Goodman could have played one more season as well. They left the program. That's what this is all really about, not the difference between grad transfers and portal transfers (and I did specify the difference when I mentioned Slocum). Graduate transfers are going to leave no matter if they are players or not. Portal transfers are leaving because they are players. Really not the same thing. Wrong on both counts. There are plenty of grad transfers who are very good players. There are hundreds and hundreds of players who go into the portal. Obviously, there are many, many players in the portal who could not play in the Pac-12. Pretty basic concept.

I still don't understand what point you're trying to make, though. The discussion is about players transferring out of the program. There is no difference whether or not they are grad transfers or portal transfers, they are still leaving the program. The mode is not relevant.

If someone has the mailing address of the OSU Athletic Department, I would appreciate your positing it to this thread.
Thank you very much.

As the saying goes "even the blind squirrel finds a nut eventually" and I got it right this time, I predicted Lily's length, reach, fast release and high release would be hard to stop, glad to see her motivated and confident to take this shot. Mixed feelings about TVO making the effort to cheer her on, but hopping on one foot to do it ! ...and before someone jumps on it...yes ,I know she only made 2 of 5.

USC is 11th in the country in defending the 3 line. 2 for 5 is outstanding!

With TVO hopping like that it seems strange that she was scratched only 10 minutes before game time.

TVO is hopping on one foot, but I’m more concerned about Timea G. and only getting 7 minutes.

TVO is hopping on one foot, but I’m more concerned about Timea G. and only getting 7 minutes. That's especially concerning considering that they burned her redshirt to play less than half the season. What's the point if she's just going to ride the pine??? At this point she should just sit because she's hardly playing anyway, and I believe she can retain a year of eligibility still. I have no idea what Rueck is thinking on this one. His rotations and who is getting PT right now seems to be completely illogical. Basically forced to play the freshman guards against USC, and what do you know??? they look like they can play. At least a hell of lot more effectively than our previous walk on player who should really just be nice story, but is playing major minutes instead of our young talent. Even after the post season is lost, our young players are still spectators. WHY? If Gardiner is looking elsewhere at the end of this season, would anyone blame her?

I think his decisions re: Gardiner and the rotation in general is mostly based on how he sees the players on defense. I think Rueck tends to play those he trusts to adhere to/understand his defensive schemes. He's also looking for combinations that seem to work well together. I do think he's trying to balance that with making sure there's some offensive firepower on the court as well, but he tends to emphasize defensive play. I'm not saying it's necessarily the best way to go about it, just why it seems illogical at times.

The problem with the team appears to be scoring. Gardiner can make shots anywhere on the floor. Play her and work on the defense as the game and season goes. If rueck is not playing her because of defense that is truly illogical. Especially when there are players with little offensive capabilities that are not playing good defense playing significant minutes.

I would think that after 14 games into the PAC12 season he would have much of that worked out by now. Still a work in progress.
