The team is 11-11 right now with 7 regular season games to go. I think you need to win 4 of those to make the NIT with a 15-14 record (pre Pac 12 tourney). UCLA made the NIT last season with a .500 record. As much as the Beavs have proven they can play with just about anyone, they would really need to finish strong. Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State at home, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State on the road. Only Arizona State seems like a likely win. Can the Beavs find 3 more? I feel like you that the Beavs could really use those extra games to help prepare for next season. As far as the portal, who knows? Alway scary. Perhaps this will be the year the Beavs have more wins in the portal than losses. I feel good about the core group sticking around. rmancari,
Pretty unlikely I think. However maybe just one big win (like hopefully against Colorado) could be the "push" to get it done.
I think that for them to be competitive next year the "core group" that you refer to needs to be virtually everybody now on the team.
Unfortunately that is highly unlikely in this current "the grass must be greener on the other side" mentality.
Go Beavs!
